Make Your Own Balloon Arch – The Lars Balloon Arch is by far his favorite project of all time! And many of you have done this for your own events. SO, for our new YouTube channel (videos every Thursday!), I thought it would be good to show exactly how we did it with a video. Thank you! And if you have any more questions, feel free to ask them in the comments! I’d love to hear what you think!

I’ve made two balloon wreaths in the last two weeks, so I’m basically a pro now ;). Balloon garlands and bows are EVERYWHERE these days and are a great and easy way to increase the WOW factor at any party. I *promise* they are easier than they look!

The good news is that you can make a HUGE balloon wreath on the cheap and it’s not as hard as it sounds ;).

You really don’t need much to make a balloon wreath – before we get into the ‘how to’ I should mention that a *balloon wreath* consists of balloons filled with ambient air (aka oxygen) and doesn’t float, it needs to be hung . A balloon wreath will last at least a week, so you don’t have to stress about making it the day of the party; can be fully prepared days in advance

A *balloon arch* is made of balloons filled with helium and the helium supports the arch to give it shape – it can be completely free standing, à la prom 1999 ;). Helium balloon arches only last a day, maybe two. So plan accordingly!

Yes, there are countless ways to make a balloon wreath to do that, but I’m not about that hot glue gun life or tying 4 balloons to each other – ain’t nobody got time for that!

How To Make A Balloon Wreath

Honestly, I don’t know how I lived this long without a bladder inflator! Best $17 I’ve ever spent. It just blows up balloons for you quickly and without wasting your breath. Ufa. // buy here

Balloon ‘tape’ is NOT sticky AT ALL so it should be called balloon strips vs tape. But since I don’t name things, balloon ribbon is cheap and comes with pre-cut holes so you only need to thread the stuffed and tied balloon knot through the strip. // buy here

You will need something to attach the wreath to the wall and/or ceiling – I use Command hooks because they are transparent and come off the ceiling easily // buy it here

You’ll want lots of latex balloons in a variety of colors – take note! buy a LOT. Here’s a breakdown of how many balloons I used for each banner.

How To Make A Circle Arch Out Of Pvc Pipe

OBS: Definitely leftover from the baby shower balloons and I also made 2 banners, one bigger and the other much smaller.

NOTE: I should have ordered about twice as many “sea” colored balloons for a banner/wreath that actually hung on the sides like the blue balloon banner I made earlier, but lesson learned!

Ok, now for the hard part! It’s not that hard… I promise! Here’s how to make your own DIY balloon banner:

Cut your balloon ribbon to size Give yourself a little extra wiggle room, you can always cut it.

Attach your command hooks to the ceiling now if you don’t have anything else to tie your banner to (robe, stair railing, etc.)

Blow up your balloons. Blow them up to different levels so you have lots of colors and sizes to choose from when you tie them up.

Attach the balloons to the balloon ribbon; I didn’t really use any rhymes or reasons, to be honest, except to look. I definitely didn’t put balloons in every hole, rather like every other hole.

Some tutorials instruct you to use a hot glue gun or glue dots from smaller balloons to larger balloons; I tried glue dots and it failed, to be honest. Double tape if you like, but I tried to rely on the balloon tape holes instead of attaching the balloons with any kind of glue.

Color-coordinate birthday party balloon arches to match the party theme, or here are some other ideas for balloon arch combinations for other events:

A valid question. If you are making a wreath from a room ceiling, a balloon wreath will last at least a week. So feel free to do this a few days before the party so you can focus on other parts of the day. Making your own balloon arch is easier than you think. I recently made one for my son’s first birthday with an underwater theme and now I’m looking for reasons to make a balloon arch. Haha!

You will want to figure out the length of your balloon arch, as well as where you want to place it. I hung our balloon arch from a photo booth backdrop support system, but some other options include:

I recommend blowing up the balloons the day or night before the event. This helps save a lot of time during the day! You will want to blow up your balloons to several different sizes. Store inflated balloons in a large airtight trash bag. This will help them not oxidize overnight.

Simply take the knotted end of the balloon and start threading that end through the holes on the bow strip. I recommend starting on the second or third hole. This allows you to use the first holes to hang the bow later. Keep adding them until you reach the desired bow length. Be sure to mix shapes and colors throughout your bow. I even added some DIY confetti balloons. (You can read my blog post on how to make them here). I preferred not to have patterns and just add them occasionally to the strip.

I decided to hang our ribbon from a photo booth background support system. I used tape to secure each corner, center and bottom of the bow. If you plan to hang it on the wall, you can use the glue dots that come with the balloon arch kit.

I’m definitely going to make this the next time I have a baby shower and the colors we’ve used in this post would be perfect for a Valentine’s Day or New Year’s party.

Diy Balloon Arch Ideas

If you want to inflate all the balloons at once before attaching them, put them in a large garbage bag while you inflate them so they don’t pop.

Or you can blow them up in a room
