While I love centerpieces with fresh flowers and greenery, this post is all about faux centerpieces because they are also beautiful and will last all season with no extra work.
I am very picky about buying fake greens and flowering greens because they have to look like they were plucked from the garden.
One of the reasons my fake arrangements work so well with real houseplants indoors is because the fake plants look just as good as the real ones.

When creating a container garden, real or fake, I follow the thriller, filler and spill method for container design.

As a general rule, short items should be under 12 inches and longer items should be above 24 inches so guests can see each other across the table.

My new favorite centerpiece is a vintage tool box I found at an antique store in Vermont.

I used it in all seasons for several years in my former home and it took me minutes to change!
To create this dining table centerpiece idea, I used the same fall flowers and herbs recipe above, but changed the container to use this vintage tool box.
And I poked in some little sticks to make it look a little different.
Sometimes in early fall, I start with a more neutral centerpiece design and then move to warmer, bolder colors like this beautiful table centerpiece.

Although the dining table centerpiece uses real pumpkins and garden mums, you can easily create the same look using faux pumpkins and flowers.
Just take out a fake pumpkin, throw some floral foam inside and decorate with artificial flowers.

I found this vintage box at a thrift store and am using it as a second container for the centerpiece.
I used it on the dining room table for a while to change the look of my dining room, but I love it in the kitchen.
Although this post is more focused on how to change the look by eliminating some artificial flowers and greenery, it is very easy to make your own arrangement with fresh flowers.
You should prepare the pot and flowers before decorating, except that it may take more than a few minutes.
