Engagement Picture Dresses – As a wedding and engagement photographer, I often get asked what to wear to a wedding. For many of my clients, this is their first professional photo shoot as a couple, and choosing the perfect outfit can be stressful! But engagement photos are meant to be a fun and cute way to capture you as a couple. So I’ve put together my tips on how to dress for a session. From how to match, to what colors to wear, I’ve got tips! Check out my Pinterest board for more inspiration. This is what I send to my clients to show off my favorite wedding creations.

While you don’t want to be too “fit” in your photos, you want to choose outfits that complement each other. One way is to “dress” like your partner. If one person is wearing a formal suit, the other should match appropriately. Another way is to wear complementary colors. Hang items together before taking pictures to make sure the colors match. Best pop color palettes? Blue and white (like Desa and Stephen below), white or soft blue or gray with cream.

I suggest you both stick to a neutral or soft palette. It’s always nice to have a photo shoot where you can stand out (not with your clothes!). Plus, it keeps your photos timeless and perfect for your home decor (year after year!).

What To Wear For Your Engagement Photos

Clothes with lots of movement always photograph well. It feels very romantic, feminine and makes the photos beautiful.

The more comfortable you feel, the better you’ll feel during your session! Remember that you will be photographed from different angles, so you like the side and back of the dress. If you’re feeling like yourself, you’ll naturally fall into pictures!

Adding a subtle pattern to your outfit can create stunning photos and show off your personality. But be gentle. A floral print is always a winner, like the one Jessica is wearing below. But it’s also important to balance the pattern in your outfit. If one person wears a pattern, compliment the other person. Too many patterns are so busy that you want these photos to be timeless.

A nod to donning white or cream for your upcoming wedding day. It’s romantic and the photos are beautiful at sunset. White – There are several ways to wear white or soft white to look the best on your skin tone, professional makeup is essential when wearing white!

I always recommend a second dressing. That way you can watch it a second time in the same day! Whether it’s a casual outfit and a more formal one, or two different outfits, the different options allow you to have beautiful photos that you can use over and over again. For men, a simple change of shirt might do the trick.
