Caroline Eales is the founder and chief designer of Passiflora Studio, a floral design studio based in Marietta, Ohio that specializes in creating designs using flowers from local farms and studio gardens. Ills also offers flower design lessons on his YouTube channel.

While creating your own bridal bouquet may seem intimidating, it’s definitely possible. With simple materials and just a few steps, you can put together an amazing personalized composition that will be the perfect addition to your big day.

If your wedding budget is right, having a designer florist create a beautiful bouquet is a great option. However, most of the cost of a professionally made bouquet comes from labor costs. Purchasing fresh flowers certainly comes with a cost, but the cost goes up with the time and complexity of the design. If you can skip this and do the work yourself, you can definitely cut your floral budget a bit.

How To Make A Mother’s Day Bouquet

First, decide which bouquet you want to include. According to Caroline Eales, it’s important to start by choosing the style of your wedding dress, as it will reflect the tone of the entire wedding. Then consider your color palette. Ills recommends considering whether you prefer complementary colors or want to integrate contrasting colors to add drama.

Be sure to check if you’re expecting a classic, narrow bouquet or something more whimsical like a garden or cascading bouquet. “If you’re looking for a more modern and simple design, I recommend using just one or three varieties of flowers, with little or no greenery and colors with a lot of interest in texture,” she says. in garden style, I suggest five to seven varieties of flowers and greenery, as well as flowers of different textures and qualities of gesture.”

Once you’ve come up with a game plan to create a beautiful bouquet, you’ll need to get your flowers. If you have access to a garden, your own or a friend’s or family member’s, Ells recommends seeing what’s blooming there first. If you don’t have access to a new garden, check out local farms or grocery stores to find flower varieties you’re looking forward to. As a last resort, you can check online to order flowers in bulk.

One of the main considerations when composing a wedding bouquet is time. “I like to make a bouquet the day before the wedding,” says Ills. If the wedding is on Saturday, she usually receives the flowers on Thursday, arranges the bouquet on Friday, and adds a ribbon to complete it on the wedding day. “On your wedding day, you want the flowers to be at their best,” she adds.

Ways To Make A Bridal Bouquet With Artificial Flowers

Once you’ve chosen your flowers, you’ll need other tools to create a stunning bouquet. Make sure you have the following in order to set it up for success:

Before you dive into creating a bouquet, you need to make sure your flower stems and greens are prepped and ready. First, remove all leaves from the stems of the flower. Then, for each green stem, remove the leaves from the lower halves. Cut each stem at a 45 degree angle and store the stems in a bowl of water while they are harvested.

After you have prepared the stems and greens, you can collect the bouquet. Start by creating the shape and frame of your bouquet, thinking about sizes along the way. Ills suggests standing in front of a mirror while building the deck so you can see exactly what it looks like from the front.

As you gather the stems in your hands, start with the base and then add larger flowers and focal points. Then continue adding smaller flowers and greenery, balancing the design as you build. Once you have assembled the bouquet you like, trim the stems to trim and wrap the entire flower with a rubber band. Make sure it wraps well by adding floral tape to hide the gum, or tie it with pretty ribbon. Wrap the tape tightly around the stems for a clean, classic look, or leave the tape hanging down for a more casual garden look.

Along the way, don’t be afraid to get creative with your deck. Typically, a bouquet follows the odd number design rule, which means deliberately adding three or five separate flowers. But of course you can break this rule if you want. “Sometimes a single stem in a garden is everything!” Els says.

When building a deck, remember not to stress. “I can’t tell you how many times I’ve torn open a bouquet I created with flowers that are over 10 years old and started all over again,” Ills adds. “Just take a deep breath and enjoy the moment when you manage to create something beautiful with your own hands. And remember, flowers are very tenacious.” Flowers don’t have to be just for special occasions. You can find many businesses around the Ozarks that allow you to build your own deck and show off little Ozarks on your desk. Here are three places where you can make flower arrangements yourself.

It’s not every day that you can build a landfill out of a truck. Ozark Mtn. Flower Truck was founded by Cassie Hartman in 2017 after an inspirational trip to Spain. She liked to walk around the open-air markets and flower stalls of Europe, and she wanted to bring some of it back to Springfield. Stella, the 1970 Volkswagen truck, made that dream come true.

Locals and travelers can find the truck parked at various locations in the city, the most popular of which is the C-Street Market on Thursdays and Saturdays. Customers can pick up flowers directly from the truck and arrange the bouquet themselves. When you’re done, take the bundle to the cashier to have it nicely wrapped in paper and thread.
