Spring may bring to mind blooming flowers and April showers, but in the world of weddings, it’s all about new colors that represent new life for the season — and the start of the big event: the wedding! Choosing wedding colors will be one of your first tasks in wedding planning, and these spring wedding color palettes are what will give you a fresh look.
There are tons of new color palettes popping up this season (sound familiar?) and we love these unique colors for spring weddings. Trends come and go, but we reached out to event planners and event designers to find out what’s new, what’s here to stay, and which spring couples will make it.
Dusty Blue Wedding Color Palettes That Will Totally Inspire You
The sentimental pearls of winter get a new look for spring: pastel colors. Consider lavender instead of deep purple, spring green instead of emerald, and burgundy accents, says Danielle Couick, creative director of Magnolia Bluebird Design and Events. It’s like wearing a blue topaz instead of a ruby—they’re both precious stones, but one has a different feel than the other. Even red tones that accentuate deeper jewel tones are rich in them, adding to the luxury of the event, Kuik added, noting that her favorite combination is spring green and ivory.
Say goodbye to green, even if you’re sticking to a neutral color palette. Green is everywhere, from green-based flowers to green labels on paper and tablets. Accents like green velvet sofas can also energize a living room setting. Planner Tracy Taylor Vardis is seeing more couples adding pops of dark green to their casual aesthetic, especially using florals and accent pieces. “Playing with colors in nature is a great source of inspiration for achieving timeless designs that are still fresh and modern,” she says.
Who knew your favorite chambray dress could inspire your wedding day? Often seen in denim, the shade of blue carries over to bedding, glassware and personal decor. “From Chinoiserie to Shibori, indigo is still present,” says Kouick, who often mixes colors and patterns to bring a charismatic quality to a space. Blue has an added benefit that is especially important at weddings: the color represents trust and strength, two things most of us look for in our relationships.
All of Lisa Frank’s dreams can come true: luminous fabrics, glassware, cameras, stationery, and even flowers come springtime. Erica Taylor Haskins, founder of Tinsel Experiential Design, says, “This love of sparkly and pearly spaces is like a childhood obsession with unicorns and mermaids as an adult. His team implemented this idea by using modern mylar runners for the table top, as well as glossy sheets. Lighting also plays an important role, giving the surface reflective blues, pinks and golds. The couple can even bring plates and wine glasses to add to the sparkling atmosphere.
Summer Wedding Color Schemes For Any Style
When it comes to spring wedding colors, couples are no longer shying away from bright colors. Instead, they emphasize the holiday with bright colors such as hot pink, mustard yellow, cerulean blue and orange. Something alive and vibrant with strong colors. “The bride and groom are embracing the colors in a big way, which makes me so happy,” Haskins said. “It’s a sharp departure from ‘cool and gloomy’.” A white space juxtaposes light colors to make the most of the space. Haskins added that it is “very stylish and beautiful in the city.”
There’s no need to say goodbye to earth tones and a neutral palette, says Couick. She plans to see a lot of neutrals — ivory, cream, champagne, beige — this spring, and for good reason: She thinks the trend’s continued presence is a reflection of the weather — political and social. “Couples tend to go to a quieter world where there’s a lot of noise and distractions in the world,” he explained.
