I’m blessed to have been blessed with quite a few, so when my friend Cathy asked me to help her style and decorate an event she was hosting, I jumped at the chance.

To be clear, the concept and designs were hers, but it was a pleasure to give my input and energy to create a ballroom full of April centers in Paris.
How To Throw A LadurÉe Paris Themed Tea Party
The event was a business meeting, but the decoration was a pleasure. Given the time of year, Cathy opted for an April in Paris theme and each of the tables was dressed in a different concept, all related to the selected theme and all put together by our little DIY team.
Since there are a lot of pictures in this post, I’ll be brief in my descriptions, but feel free to ask any questions in the comments below if you’d like more information on how any of the hubs were created.
One of our favorite concepts revolved around whimsical French dresses presented in mannequin shapes. The French maid above was festive and frilly, beaded and feathered and adorned with a lace parasol and ornate mask.
Most of the tables were dotted with fake petals and rose votives, some filled with pearls and feathered fans. French boxes were everywhere, used for height or to decorate the edges.

Some of the tables were decorated mainly with flowers, but each one with its own unique concept. The champagne bucket above serves as a glass and is placed on a circular wine tray, surrounded by other decorations.
No Paris theme is complete without an Eiffel Tower (in fact we had several) and the wine above shows bottles of wine with French labels applied.
In addition to the felt mannequins, we also used wire mannequins, here dressed in a ballet theme, with a tulle tutu and draped ballet slippers.
This same event last year revolved around a Carnival theme. If you saw this post, you might remember feather spray. We brought this concept back in a more Parisian tone, with lettering that spelled out “April in Paris” around the base.

Lace gloves are placed in the boxes and themed pictures are framed and placed nearby. (You can see last year’s decorations on the Mardi Gras centerpieces.)
Another piece that channels both Paris and spring is the flower-embellished wire parasol, with frills, votives and petals.
Several people chose the table above as their favorite of the collection, with a beautiful heart of pink flowers and a selection of pink sweets offered in gorgeous glass holders. The square glass vase contains pink French kisses, all presented on a floral tray.
He was a big fan of the cage table, with lanterns decorated with candles and flowers in the cages. Housed in decorative boxes, the multi-tiered centerpiece offered a delightful glimpse of the coming spring.

Flowers were also used to decorate the bar, with roses, hydrangeas, hyacinths and more, all tucked into a French planter.
The feather theme was moved to the other side of the room, in a very tall piece with bunches of beads inside. Parasols and flowers complete the package.
There were also great central concepts, which served French art as well as books and music. The paintings were labeled as museum pieces and people enjoyed walking around the table to see everything on it.
An additional mannequin was dressed as a dog-dog dancer, with feather fans at the feet and pearls layered around the neck.
Garden Party Ideas For Celebrating The Season In Style
There were several tables that were adorned with string-lit Eiffel Towers with lush flowers at the base and French decorations flanking the centerpiece.
A second ballet dancer included legs in pointe shoes and a flower garden bucket adorned the table.

So when I asked her what kind of party she wanted, she immediately said she wanted to go to Paris! Ha! Everything is possible in your little world, right? I told her we couldn’t go to Paris but we could have a party in Paris and she said, “Yes!” Now we don’t get on a plane and fly over the sea to one of the most beautiful places on earth, but YOU CAN! A Paris Themed Party That Makes You Go
Her party isn’t until next week, but I have some fun ideas I wanted to share with you. I picked up most of these supplies at my local Michaels and you can too!
I like to use these cake boxes for party favors because the box is big enough to hold two or three different items. Plus, it’s different from your typical bags. If I spent an afternoon in Paris, I’m sure I’d come home with some pretty boxes tied with a ribbon!
For favors, we gave each girl an effiel tower charm to use on necklaces, bracelets or anything else. We also included a small pack of Livy’s favorite gum.
All you have to do to wow these boxes is put coordinating tissue paper in the box and place the items inside. Then close the box and wrap it with a pretty satin bow! Simple and elegant! I ended up putting in a fun little wood ornament found in the wood section at Michaels. The little number 5 was perfect for souvenir tags.
Easy No Sew Tulle Tablecloth
These sweet drinks are perfect for our little fashionistas. France is known for its coffee and tea drinks. But since this party is for all the girls in our lives we decided to stick with the sweet pink lemonade. Michaels now has glass bottles that are perfect for drinking. To dress them we use:
What is spring in Paris without flowers? These cupcake flags are so easy to make because the Michaels Recollection line makes it so easy. All you have to do is add these cute stickers from Martha Stewart. Attach them to these flags you can find at the store and you’ll have a great flower arrangement for your cupcakes in no time.
For your party I will also make a nude cake with a floral top! I tried it this weekend for my sister-in-law’s baby shower and it turned out perfect! I took a baking class very similar to the ones Michaels offers that feature Wilton products years ago. I knew I needed some height in this cake, so I grabbed 3 inch deep pans from the Michaels baking island. Instead of using 4 pans to make four layers, I baked two cakes and then leveled them. This is the perfect spring cake for any of your celebrations this year. I topped it off with fresh flowers from my local grocery store AND flowers from Michaels! I bet you can’t tell which is which!
