Vintage Up Do
Vintage Up Do – Why the vintage up-do is my go-to this summer (and why I plan to keep the style all year round!).
I’ll admit it: sometimes I get bored with my hair. Has this happened to you? Do you look at your puff/twist-out/braid-out in the mirror and feel a little twinge of boredom with the revolving door of going to style? When this happens to me, I usually run to my stylist and ask for a new haircut. However, since I made a deal with myself to ‘grow it up’ this year, this summer I decided to try something a little different from the norm: the up-do ‘. Not the standard up-dos, either: I aim for the old-fashioned approach to up-dos.

Another confession: I like to stay in the same line when it comes to my hair (don’t think I mentioned puffs/twistouts/braids before), mostly because these are the styles I know. What to do? Another thought was a bit difficult for me. So imagine my surprise when I was able to break out and rock and roll vintage updos without breaking a sweat! This is because they are very easy to accomplish. Grab some bobby pins, a little moisturizer, some gel, and you’re good to go!
For me, the word ‘vintage’ is very powerful. I think of women of color in the 1940s when I see the up-dos, their hair elegantly styled in addition to their tailored, patterned dresses. So classy and stylish. When it comes to creativity, I like to say that no two up-dos are alike. This gives me the opportunity to see where my hair takes me: do I want bangs in the front, or do I want three, or do I want to do something completely different. In other words, the word “boring” doesn’t apply when it comes to up-dos, and I love it.
Up-do really saved me this summer. I don’t have to worry about the hair on my face or my neck on unseasonably hot days, which can make summer feel even hotter. Even better: it’s a style that can be worn all year round. Whether it is autumn, winter, or spring, the models stay cool and are also good protection, especially in the cold days of autumn. and winter.
Therefore, stress arises. Whether in life or in hair. But stress is good, in my opinion, because it gives us time to find change and find inspiration. Even if it’s not practical, when you find a style that makes you stylish, creative, and expressive all year round, what can you do?
