Wedding Beachwear For Men
Although getting married with sand under your toes is the dream of many, it can confuse guests about what to wear. Unlike traditional dress codes such as cocktail, semi-formal or formal, the “beachy” element means you can think of more comfortable, cool and casual attire for the event. Naturally, the time of year, weather and location will be the deciding factors when choosing a style.
Beach Wedding Attire For Men
Beach wedding attire can vary depending on the formality of the event, but usually calls for more casual and comfortable fabrics and accessories.
To learn more about beach wedding attire and how to choose the perfect outfit for the occasion, we spoke to wedding planners Meghan Pagegeorge and Pamela Spence. “A beach wedding outfit is the same as any other wedding where you dress up according to the formalities of the event, but unlike a regular holiday, there are some small changes in accessories and fabrics that will make you a lot more comfortable.” – suggests Papageorge.
First, do a quick site search to check the level of formality. “If it’s just a rooftop or patio with a beach view, then just plan your outfit as usual,” adds Papageorge. However, if the ceremony and/or reception is on the sand, feel free to dress up and embrace the beach vibe.
“The two biggest differences between a beach wedding and other wedding dress codes are the color scheme and the shoes,” says Pamela Spence. “You don’t usually see a little black dress and heels at a beach wedding.” Use breathable fabrics, fun prints and simple, upscale staples for an easy yet sophisticated beach wedding look. Avoid denim and cotton t-shirts at all costs and only wear shorts or sandals if the venue/event is particularly casual.
How To Dress For A Beach Wedding
In addition to avoiding black, the traditional color for wedding guests, consider small touches that fit the theme without going overboard. Wear a sweet grass clutch or consider a fishtail braid to add a stylish beachy vibe.
A dress, suit or jumpsuit is suitable for a formal beach wedding. Choose solid, lighter colors (avoid black, cream and white) and breathable fabrics. Long dresses and overalls are acceptable for beach wear. To enhance the elegance, wear a fabric like metallic or lace. Since stilettos are a hazard on the sand, wear high heels or formal sandals. Consider bringing a pair of formal heels to the reception, if not to the beach.
Wear a suit or long-sleeved shirt and tie with a jacket and trousers. Prefer solid colors, avoiding black, cream and white, a summer suit is the perfect solution. Consider a breathable fabric such as linen, khaki, or siracer. You will need shoes or nice shoes that complement the pants. No shorts or sandals.
A formal dress, a suit, a jumpsuit or a jumpsuit are all suitable for semi-formal. Feel free to incorporate impressions while avoiding anything too overpowering. If you do decide to wear a beach dress, consider it tea length or maxi to avoid looking too casual. Acceptable footwear options are dress sandals, thick heels, and wedges.
Things You Should Never Wear To A Wedding
While a jacket is optional, a breathable sport coat or unique jacket is a fun addition. Feel free to incorporate impressions while avoiding anything too overpowering. Shoes can be a bit more casual, but should be closed, such as loafers or pumps. No shorts or sandals.
Acceptable, avoid standard beach flip flops. Nice short-sleeved shirts like polo shirts are acceptable, as are nice shorts (think chinos) with a belt. Lighter colors and/or bright prints will enhance your casual look. Avoid jeans, cargo and swim shorts. Cotton T-shirts are not allowed. This is the only time sandals may be acceptable, but make sure your feet are well-groomed before opting for an open-toed look. Otherwise, wear shoes or loafers, never sneakers.
While the formality of the dress code is sometimes specified on the invitation, sometimes the couple simply requests “beach wedding attire.” If so, “it’s always better to be overdressed than underdressed,” advises Papageorge. “If the invitation doesn’t mean formal, dress for a semi-formal event.”
Think casual semi-formal wear, but with summer suits, breathable fabric and a hint of tropical elements. If you’re going for a typical beach wedding, remember: it’s not a family beach outing, it’s still a wedding. Leave the swimsuits and shorts at home, and if you do opt for sandals, make sure they’re nicer than your usual beach flip flops. Sun hats are permitted, but please remove them during the procession so as not to block the view of other guests.

Whether it’s a breezy maxi dress, printed suit, formal jumpsuit or palm print jumpsuit, beachwear is a fun way to show off your personality and rock your faves on a hot day – just remember to slather on the sunscreen! More weddings take place during the summer than any other season, so chances are you’ll eventually be invited to the beach. And with the high temperatures and casual atmosphere, you won’t want to show up in the same suit you wear to the office. “No bells and whistles. Just go for iconic, classic and simple,” says celebrity stylist Ilaria Urbinati, whose line for Eddie Bauer launches in October. We asked him to give us the lowdown on what to wear to a beach wedding and how to make sure you’re the second best-dressed man of the night.
“A beach wedding will probably be a little more relaxed,” says Urbinati. Unless it’s a black tie wedding, you’ll want a lightweight suit made from cotton, linen or candy and definitely something unstructured. All of these fabrics will make you feel a lot cooler than a typical wool or silk blend suit. Color-wise, Urbinati suggests suits in navy, off-white, or pale gray as a signature seasonal staple for your outfit, like one of these lightweight cotton picks from J.Crew.
This wedding may be on the beach, but sandals are too casual for any event, let alone a friend’s wedding. Urbinati says tan lace-up shoes without socks are great, as are loafers. You can wear sleek low-top sneakers if you want, such as from Common Projects or Purcell. Except for light skin, be sure to avoid heavy fabrics like suede, which can add a wintry feel to the airy, cool look you’re going for.
“A pocket square is the way to dress up a suit when you’re not wearing a tie.” While you can usually wear both, a beach wedding creates an even-keeled vibe — and both accessories can send you into overly formal territory. You’re no George Clooney, but you don’t need a boat trip to Italy to try on a classic tieless shirt and pocket square. If you don’t want to leave your tie at home, Urbinati suggests wearing a knit option, like this one from Charvet, which will keep your look smart but relaxed.

You don’t want to be left squinting during me time, so be sure to bring your sunglasses. Again, go for a classic look, such as aviators or travelers, notes Urbinati. “You can’t go wrong with Persols, Ray-Bans or something turtleneck.” Sunglasses come in a variety of shapes and styles, so follow our guide to find the perfect pair for your face.
The secret to looking good is always a perfectly tailored suit. It’s no ordinary Saturday night at the country club, but that doesn’t mean guests have to dress up. A perfect fit – especially with more delicate summer fabrics – is a must, which means all the little rules of tailoring apply. Aim for a tapered leg with no more than a half break at the hem. Suit sleeves should touch the crease of the wrist, and the shirt should only be visible a quarter of an inch, Urbinati advises. “You can wear anything as long as it fits well”.>Weddings, Parties & Events>Groom Attire>Wedding Tuxedos>Yellow Beach Wedding Tuxedos Groom Wear 2 Piece Short Pants Men Suits (Jacket+Pants+Tie) Summer Elegant Prom in casual style Slim jacket Festive outfits Beachwear
