As a bride-to-be, the proposal isn’t the only thing you’ll say yes to. With every little detail coming together to create the wedding of your dreams, there are many decisions to be made, and saying yes to the dress is first on the list, right after finding your match.

Best Choices Of Sheath Wedding Dress

Your wedding is your day to bask in the spotlight – all eyes will be on you, whether you’re walking down the aisle, having your first dance or mingling with your guests. So, naturally, this defining moment deserves a dress worthy of the occasion. But the sheer volume of options can make the process overwhelming. Therefore, quickly understanding the silhouettes that best complement your personality and body type will make the choice easier.

We asked bridal designers Kresha Bajaj, Karan Berry and Leon Vaz to share their best tips. “It’s important to do your research and have a vision in mind before you go hunting,” Barry says. “That said, keep an open mind. Try different options, even silhouettes you wouldn’t normally consider. The trick is to draw attention to your most flattering features,” adds Vaz. Bajaj believes that comfort should be your main focus as you will be wearing the dress for several hours. “It’s not just your body type that should dictate your decision, it’s about being confident and happy. It’s important that your dress makes you feel good!” she said

This is a universally flattering favorite. Complementing all body types, it stays fitted to the waist from where it opens into a soft A-line, hence the name. Barry feels this is a silhouette that hugs you in all the right places and is a great choice for those with a pear shape or curves: “An A-line dress hugs the waist, creating a slimmer waist while flattering the bust,” he says. adds. “It can make a petite bride appear taller with its overall slimming effect.

This silhouette contours the body from the chest to the knee and is placed on it. The style is known to accentuate the waist and hips rather than narrow them, especially if you’re apple-shaped. Barry adds that choosing the right shapewear is important with a mermaid gown: “Given how fitted it is, you’ll also want to make sure you can move freely in it and also sit down easily.”

The trumpet is a more subdued version of the mermaid, with a straight bodice to the hips and a flare that starts at mid-thigh, but it’s a crowd-pleaser, considered a particularly good combination for an extravagant celebration. “The trumpet silhouette is ideal for thin frames and hourglass types,” Bajaj explains. “Those who want to show off their curves often choose this outfit.

Vaz believes the shape of the top draws attention to the stomach and hips, making it a winning choice with slim waists and petite figures.

If you want to glide into your happily ever after like a princess, this fairytale-ready dress is for you. Volume? check Drama? check Classic? Yes of course! Vaz suggests this slim fit silhouette if you have a slim hip with a fuller bust. “The voluminous skirt balances the fitted top,” Bajaj adds. “The fuller silhouette emphasizes the waist and hides the lower part of the body. However, the hip-conscious bride may want to keep in mind that a skirt can make you look bigger.” It’s easy to drown in pieces of fabric, so another tip is to keep embellishments minimal and tonal.

Minimal, sophisticated and incredibly chic, the slip dress makes a case for a “less is more” bridal repertoire. The simplicity of the slip dress is its true virtue, as is its tendency to fit like a glove. This design is best suited with elements such as a hooded neck, bias cut or back detailing for added character.

“A sheath dress has a tight fit and contours the body from head to toe,” says Bajaj. “It gives an appetizing bride an elongated look that helps her look taller. Those with a fitted body can opt for a belt or belt embellished with it to create the illusion of a more defined waist. The end result is modern and comfortable. Plus, if you’ve been looking for a style that works well without a train, here it is!

Are the pole and shroud silhouettes interchangeable? They are similar, but definitely not identical. The key difference is that the latter is lighter and smoother. A column dress is often structured with fabrics such as taffeta, brocade or lace. The silhouette is tailored to show off an elegant and slim figure. So if you have an hourglass or sports frame, don’t think twice before choosing this one.

If you’re looking for a style that has a ‘something old, something new’ quality, then this ankle-skimming silhouette is for you. A tea-length wedding dress is the perfect middle ground: a marriage of modern and traditional sensibilities. Its distinctive vintage charm gives it added appeal. Bajaj believes that a tea dress is an unconventional choice, so it says a lot about the bride’s personality: “Whether you’re going for an intimate ceremony, a brunch wedding or a simple but beautiful registry, you should choose this length. The beauty is that it can also be easily recycled long after the wedding.”

It’s a silhouette you can dictate, not the other way around: choose a length and flare that enhances your body type. An added bonus is that you can play around with your accessories so those crystal bars can make their way into your wedding album.
