The professional photographer shares all the behind-the-scenes details of the live shoot, which he describes as “weird and unforgettable.”
“I met Rafael and Natalie three years ago,” Kozlowski told The Knot. “Earlier we both worked together for many photo shoots. When I heard that I would be their wedding photographer, I knew it would be a fun and meaningful experience for us.”
The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Wroclaw, Poland on April 30 and held a reception in the Garden Room of the Art Hotel. “It’s a magical place,” Kozlowski said of the space transformed into the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.
Highlights from Lewis Carroll’s fantasy came to life during the ceremony and reception. The bride wore black and white striped tights and heart-shaped heels (the Queen of Hearts would approve!), while the groom embraced the theme in a Mad Hatter-inspired bright blue suit and top hat.

Their beautiful outdoor venue has decorative candle pillars and colorful flowers, decks of playing cards and books all around and a beautiful tea set. The guest tables were covered in moss green accented with dark purple, pink and blue, and mismatched teacups to set the mood.
The bride also created “this way” and “wrong way” signs to add a unique element to the overall aesthetic and ensure the mirror is positioned appropriately.
Bobo, the couple’s white rabbit, also made an appearance! “On the day of the shoot, Raphael said, ‘It’s time to get down the rabbit hole,’ and their reactions were pure excitement, as you can see in the photos,” Kozlowski said.
. The wedding photographer, who shared with us that the couple “couldn’t imagine a Wonderland adventure without a [white rabbit] character,” was “surprised and happy to have their rabbit join them.”

“One of my favorite moments is when Raphael pulls a rabbit out of a hat like he’s doing a magic trick,” Kozlowski said. “Luckily the Cheshire Cat didn’t show up and make a fuss… or maybe he did and we didn’t see him.

The pair and their idea eventually inspired Kozlowski to expand his craft. “I love finding uniqueness in things and their idea for an Alice in Wonderland wedding theme was completely crazy and magical,” says the photographer. “Natalie is a very talented stylist and makeup artist. It was a pleasure working with her and photographing her vision. Wonderland come to life.”

Even though it was an Alice in Wonderland themed shoot, the creative team didn’t want it to look a bit cheesy.
We’ve done our best to include sweets like mushroom macarons or playing card cookies that are reminiscent of classic cartoons, but don’t give us the full Disney feel.”

On April 30, 2015, in Wrocław, Poland, Natalia and Raphael Kurza married in a traditional church ceremony followed by a whimsical Mad Hatter’s tea party-inspired reception.
And Kurzawas didn’t just pull the theme out of a top hat. When they first met in a teahouse in Wrocław in 2012, a beloved book by Lewis Carroll
“I was sitting at one of the tables drinking white tea and saw a guy who couldn’t take his eyes off me,” Natalia told The Huffington Post. “He asked if he could sit next to me. The book was on the shelf next to our table. I still remember the flower paintings on the walls of the tea room and his smile. We fell in love at first sight.”
