You’ve found your dream partner and now you’re busy planning your happily ever after. Chances are this means you’re in full-on wedding planning mode (in the wake of Psycho’s ‘Murder Music’), but even if you’re someone who likes to plan weddings, everyone knows

Studies have shown that nature can make us better, happier and more creative. Share amazing views, late nights around campfires, scenic kisses at sunset and snuggle up in a cozy sleeping bag, guaranteed to set a positive tone for the start of your married life.
Even if you decide to go the glamping route, you won’t have to spend so much precious money on a hotel (or plane ticket, if you’re going the road trip route). A cheaper honeymoon will see you extend your honeymoon by a day (or three) and put your savings into more anniversaries.
Traveling to the airport can be stressful and the overall time is miserable. Camping trips, on the other hand, are more fun (you can spend a day at the beach, literally). A night in nature will bring you and your S.O. Trust me (airport honeymoon, anyone?). If you turn a camping trip into a road trip, the trip actually becomes part of the adventure—just make sure you can handle your partner’s musical tastes for hours on end.
If watching the leaves change color is on your bucket list, then an East Coast honeymoon is a must! While different parts of the country have spectacular fall color shows, nothing beats New England. Use the interactive fall foliage map at , or follow my suggestion to visit Acadia National Park when the fall foliage is in effect from September through October. At this point, the summer crowds in the park are leaving (yippee!) and the temperature hasn’t dropped below zero.

Cooler daytime temperatures in January and February give honeymooners the perfect weather to explore otherworldly rock formations, sweeping desert vistas, colorful sunsets, and the extended darkness unique to Joshua Tree. Keep your post-wedding glow when the sky is starry. Daytime temperatures in January and February are usually around 60 degrees, which prevents large crowds, but it’s also ideal for desert hiking and climbing – just bring a puffer and a beanie! While snow is extremely rare, you may even be lucky enough to see orange deserts covered in snow.
Probably the best time to visit the Grand Canyon, the crown jewel of all national parks, is from March to May, when the crowds are still light and the weather hovers in the pleasant 70s. Take a day trip to the quieter area of the North Rim and hike the 14-mile North Kaibab Trail to the Colorado River.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can extend your honeymoon by driving 3.5 hours north to Utah’s Zion National Park. Along the way, you’ll pass through Page, Arizona, home to Antelope Canyon, Glen Canyon and Lake Powell, and Horseshoe Bend, which are worth a day or two to explore on your own. Zion is home to some of the most challenging yet rewarding, like Angel’s Landing and the Narrows, if you haven’t completely disappeared from the North Kaibab Trail.
For the adventurous couple, the Sierra Nevada offers endless
