I recently hosted a couples shower with my cousins and their husbands. The food was covered, but I had to get creative and come up with invitations, decorations, games and favors.

I happened to be browsing Pinterest right when my cousin called me to discuss hosting our second cousin’s wedding. When she mentioned she was planning on having a barbecue, I couldn’t have been more excited.

It was fun! After talking to the mothers of the bride and groom, I collected about 10 juicy tidbits for each. Shower guests were able to guess more accurately and we shared the answers right before opening the gift.

A Tired Travel Themed Bridal Shower Gets A Colorful Update
A great memory for a couple of hours. With a few popsicle sticks and a mason jar, bath guests can share their best date night ideas to help the couple stay inspired and spend quality time together.
I took a dollar sign, cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and wrote the couple’s names and their upcoming wedding date with a Sharpie. The guests then added their personal messages and I instructed the bride to bake a plate to preserve (hopefully as long as the plate stays fairly clean) all the messages.
Place in a cold oven and set to 450 degrees. Once the oven is preheated, bake for 30 minutes and turn off. The dish is left overnight in the oven to cool.
This is something we came up with on the spot while I picked up some last minute items from Walmart.
Reasons To Have A Couples Shower
While my cousin was talking about charades or a dance line, I kept thinking that we should come up with something that puts people a little less on the spot, but still pretty simple.
I threw out the idea of playing ‘tying the knot’ and she thought the activity was planting flowers for the newlyweds. The great thing about this game is that there are endless activities to do.
We had four teams of six – three pairs – and each pair had a different task and a different rule to follow.
The first leg of the relay: each pair was tied together at the ankle. They were responsible for collecting the items needed to plant and bring the flowers. We put plants, flowers, pots, shovels and gloves about 10 feet away from the table and they had to run down and back.

Second leg: Each pair was tied together at the waist – back to back – and had to plant flowers. We also told that everyone should plant in a row, so we should continue to sow in a row.
Step Three: Each pair was tied together at the wrist and had to decorate the pots. They could only use tied hands and had to tie a ribbon around the pot and write a tag for the happy couple.
It was a blast! After the baton and before the gifts, we sat the couple back to back while I read a long list of questions and they answered what they thought best described the bride or groom.
Tip: Make sure the last question is “who do you love most in the world?” And make sure they know it’s the last question so they can get it right at the moment – after all the crap, you want to get this right!

First I decided to make pulled pork sandwiches. They are easy to make and so delicious. I made the pulled pork ahead of time, then reheated it during the day and kept it warm in the crockpot.
They were a hit at the shower, but every time we make them, people love them. I had a separate tray for the buns and the meat so people could make their own sandwiches.
I also made a pig in a blanket. These are some of my favorites and they were all gone by the end!
