The always stunning grand ballroom at The Pennsylvanian was filled with white centerpieces from Blossoms by Jilliann, white satin linens, gold chiavari chairs from All Occasions Party Rental and gold napkins. A sophisticated table setting was highlighted with a warm, romantic glow thanks to EF Lighting. Even the bridal party wore the colors of the day with little black dresses for the bridesmaids and GQ-like tuxedos for the men. Sal and I met at WVU; I went to law school and Sal got his master’s degree. We both attended our tailgates for a big WVU football game. After a win, we somehow ended up at a post-match celebration. While we were there we started talking and realized we grew up about 45 minutes away from each other and had gone to rival high schools. We also realized that we had shared the same circle of friends without knowing it for a large part of our lives. We hung out all night and the rest is history!

A few years later, we went to eat at our favorite place in town – Monterey Bay – with my twin sister and her husband. Afterwards, Sal suggested we walk across the street to get a photo of the Mount Washington overlook. As Sal and I posed for the picture, he got down on one knee with the sun setting in the background and asked me to marry him! Afterwards he told me we were going down town to a restaurant to meet our parents. He surprised me again with an entire room full of our friends and family waiting to celebrate our engagement.

The look I was going for was a very classic and romantic yet modern look. I wanted to be able to look back on my wedding years later and still be happy with the decisions I made. I also love a good black and white theme and how formal and crisp everything looks when put together.
I wore an Anne Barge dress that was everything I wanted in a wedding dress. It was a modern take on the traditional ball gown and really inspired the rest of the wedding theme. Hall and groomsmen wore black Calvin Klein tuxedos with Pittsburgh themed socks – the socks were a hit! To keep with the theme, I chose a white bouquet full of roses for myself and my bridesmaids. To tie in the timeless look of the Pennsylvania native, I added gold to my table and vases as well as the menu cards. We had white satin linen on the tables and the napkins were decorated in gold. Our favorite was the bridal themed chocolate covered Oreos. On the main table we had gold plating to make the table stand out. Our florist, Jill, was also so great and made my Pinterest dreams come to life with tall and low white flower centerpieces for the tables.
What made our wedding unique were the extra touches at the reception and cocktail hour. We had special drinks, custom napkins and matches and a basket full of gold clips for all the family and friends who needed a break from their feet! Finally, our late-night snack of twine-wrapped Italian sandwiches really brought the backgrounds of both our families together. All in all, it was our dream wedding!
It’s so hard for us to pick a favorite moment of the day because the whole day from start to finish was so special to us! For me, I think it was walking down the aisle and seeing Sal at the altar smiling back at me or the moment we walked into the reception to the cheers of our family and friends. Sal’s favorite day was greeting me and my dad when I came to the altar. Another special part of the day for Sal was sharing a glass of whiskey with his father from a bottle his grandfather had let them drink on Sal’s wedding day.
