The three-tier textured ombre lilac wedding cake was inspired by favorite colors on foToday’s wedding inspiration board from Pantone’s Teenage Spring Colors for Spring 2016 (if you missed it, you can find it here), Beautiful lilac grey. Of all the beautiful shades I shared a few weeks ago, this one was the most popular and had twice as many pins as any other color! And as a lover of lavender and all things neutral, I couldn’t be happier to have a better excuse to create an inspiration board in my favorite color…

With hints of lilac in this soft neutral, I couldn’t think of a more perfect color than pastel purple and mint. Create the loveliest palette with deep grays and ivory for contrast. Pantone chose lilac gray with spring in mind, but the color is so beautiful and versatile that it will suit any season celebration.

I used a floral theme for this board, and I love the way the icing on the cake, the bouquet of roses, and the fancy heel embellishments (which, gave me serious shoe envy!) brought this look together. I also wanted to show that you don’t have to use lavender for everything if you go for lavender which is a really budget friendly option for decorations or in this case escort cards. Choose from roses, peonies and dahlias. Whatever your favorite flowers are for bouquets and centerpieces. Mix and match as you like, see if the colors and scents go well with each other…

Translucent, almost weightless, yet surprisingly flexible, onion skin paper is an indispensable material for stationery designers seeking a light-as-air feel. In the papermaking process, the sheets are naturally dried to give a handmade vintage feel. For the suite above, stationer Nancy Sharon Collins carved the reception details into onion skins, layered them over thick cotton paper wedding invitations, and bordered both in lilac ink. Place it in an envelope lined with a delicate gray cloth and the result is simply wonderful.

Borrow a pipe and drape stand and wind two lengths of fabric over a horizontal bar. It doesn’t have to be perfect.
