“I want to tell you, we won’t be able to go home for Christmas this year.” Then I began one of the most difficult conversations I’ve ever had. I was talking to my mother and I knew that she and my father would be upset. You see, ever since we got married we had traveled three and a half hours to my childhood home to spend Christmas with my family.

I know three and a half hours isn’t too far to walk and if it was just the two of us this wasn’t a big deal. But then we started adding more children and with children comes many things. Add all the usual baby items, family Christmas gifts, and “Santa” baby gifts and Christmas just got S-T-R-E-S-S-F-U-L!

Inspirational Moving On Quotes

My parents not being around for Christmas meant that the whole family had to change their Christmas traditions. This issue weighed heavily on me. However, I had to do my best for our growing family.

It was 1993 and I was only two months away from giving birth to my third child. I didn’t see us packing up all our things and Christmas things and going home for the holidays. Although this decision was difficult, it had to be made.

My heart ached. Christmas that year was difficult. It didn’t get better in the years that followed because I was still homesick, which created chaos in my house as I struggled to do our ritual without feeling guilty about breaking it. the traditions that my sisters and I grew up with. .

I knew I had to find peace in my heart if I wanted to have peace in my home while on vacation.

Letting Go Quotes For Finally Moving On

When Christmas came in 1998, my fourth child was only a few months old and my heart’s desire was for a guilt-free, peaceful holiday. Sitting in the dark at dawn rocking my baby, I began to pray,

“Dad, you know how hard Christmas is for me. You know how much I long to be with my family. It’s so hard to want to be in two places at once. Please, Lord ! Give me peace. Help me to be content with our little Christmas family. Show me how to find Your peace without feeling guilty or sad or mad because we don’t have my family. In the name of Jesus, Amen.”

I laid my sweet girl down and crawled back into bed. I spent some time sleeping but sleep did not come. The tension in my soul seemed to pierce a hole in my heart. I got up, took my bible and went to the living room. God led me to the story of Mary found in Luke 1 & 2.

Reading oh a familiar story I asked God to breathe new life into words, open my eyes and help me find new treasures there. No wonder I kept hearing the word “look” in my head.

Divorce Quotes To Help You Move On From A Broken Relationship

Over the next few days I read and re-read Luke’s account of Mary. Although we do not know exactly how Mary felt, what God wrote to us does not show a girl who was afraid. Instead we see a woman who is at peace with her God given work. We see a person who listened to what God told him, who accepted His advice, who overcame his fear, and kept all his promises in his heart. I realized that I needed to do the same in order to have peace as Christmas was near.

Mary listened to what God told her about Gabriel. Verse 29 says that she was confused and confused but continued to listen.

When are you most frustrated on vacation? How do you deal with this confusion? What worries you about this season? What other method have you tried to fix this error?

Setting aside time to listen to God’s guidance during the holidays is the best way to find peace in our hearts. Another way I have found to find time to listen is while I am driving. . When I’m alone in the car, I turn off the Christmas carols and ask God to speak using Samuel’s prayer: “Speak, Jehovah, for your servant is listening.” 1 Samuel 3:10b

Family Quotes To Express Your Love

Another way Mary obeyed God was through her sister Elizabeth. When she heard that Elizabeth was expecting, Maria visited her. Was he curious, wanting to see if what Gabriele told him was true? We will not know, but what we do know is that when Mary greeted, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and said:

“May God bless you above all women, and may your child be blessed.” Why am I honored, when the mother of my Lord came to me? When I heard your greeting, the child in my womb jumped for joy. You are blessed because you believed what Jehovah said. Luke 1:45

Listening to those we trust is another way to find peace of mind during the busy holidays. All those years ago I reached out to a trusted friend and asked if I could call her when I started feeling guilty, depressed or anxious. He was generous enough to say yes, and I used him. wisdom many times that year. Texting has made this easier over the years!

How To Know If Someone Doesn’t Want To Be Your Friend

After Gabriel made his announcement, Mary answered: “I am Jehovah’s servant. Let all that you said about me come to pass.” Then the messenger left him. Luke 1:38 SSO89SO

Maria’s only question was why. And when Gabriel explained the reason, he accepted his words. My problem during all those years is that I doubted God’s plan for my life. Moving after marriage was difficult. I missed my family a lot. Adding guilt to changing my entire family’s Christmas tradition created unnecessary stress and robbed me of my peace.

“God father, I know that this marriage was planned by you long ago, it means that you knew that I would be leaving my family. Please forgive my dissatisfaction with your perfect plan. Spirit, help me find peace in my heart and be satisfied with your purpose for my life. In the name of Jesus, amen.”

Where do you hold dissatisfaction with God’s plan for your life? For your vacation? How can confessing this sin help us to have peace in our hearts?

The Year I Didn’t Eat

In Luke 1:30 Gabriel told Mary not to be afraid. Accepting God’s plan seems to have helped Maria overcome her fear. Complimenting also helped.

“Mary said, ‘Oh, how my soul praises the Lord!’ How my soul rejoices in God, my Saviour! Because he remembered his handmaid, and from now on all years will call me blessed. Because the Almighty is holy, he has done these things for me great.” – Luke 1:46-49.

Praising God banishes fear from our hearts and gives birth to peace. Every time I was afraid or guilty, I started praising God. He lives in the praise of his people and I needed his presence nearby to find peace in my heart.

Never Give Up: Messages From Fans

Luke 2 finds Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem with the census and as we know, the birth of Jesus. After His birth, angels appeared to the shepherds and told them about the wonderful thing that happened. After enjoying what I am sure was the most amazing of the concerts, the shepherds ran to Bethlehem to look for the Child.

“They quickly went home and found Mary and Joseph. And behold, the baby was sleeping in the manger. After they saw him, the shepherds told everyone what happened and what the angel told them about this child. All who heard the words of the shepherds were amazed, but Mary kept these things in her heart, and kept thinking about them.” Luke 2:16-19

Mary’s heart was calm because she remembered all the things that God had done for her. As I searched for peace in my heart and home on Christmas Day 1993, I knew I had to do the same. Keeping track of God’s faithfulness builds the foundation of peace.
