Winter Wedding Bouquet Ideas
No matter what time of year you’re getting married, a beautiful bouquet of flowers should be carried down the altar. While they may not technically be at your wedding, you can (and should!) receive a bouquet of flowers that you love on your wedding day. If you want these beautiful flowers to reflect the wedding season, you’re in luck because some beautiful color combinations are perfect for a winter wedding.
What’s In Season: An Essential Guide To Winter Wedding Flowers
When thinking about seasonal arrangements, start with colors that evoke the time of year. During the colder months we love deep purples, sharp teal greens, snow whites and classic blues. Choose a bouquet that combines these colors for a winter-inspired look that doesn’t read like holiday decor.
Another great way to “winterize” your bouquet is to choose seasonal accessories, such as evergreen shrubs, berries or acorns. When cleverly incorporated, these little touches help enhance the seasonal vibe, “Winter Wonderland!”
Why do we associate evergreens with winter? Take yourself out of the season and embrace the greenery by adding seasonal flowers like protea to a base full of greenery. This bride did just that, carrying a dramatic bouquet, Queen Anne lace and lots of textured greenery.
Since flowers are limited this time of year, use texture to your advantage. Example: A bouquet of blooming peony, dusty mills, sprinklers and seeded eucalyptus.
Wondrous Winter Wedding Flowers
We know we mentioned adding texture and using seasonal flowers, but take this photo as proof that a wild, garden mix (vintage and Coco Loco garden roses, anemones, nandinas, and greenery) can work this time of year.
After the conservatory scene? Try mixing white, ivory and purple flowers with clematis, sweet peas, cornflowers and O’Hara garden roses.

Winter brings a darker palette in nature and fashion, and so do floral designs. We’re all for this organic bouquet of anemones (with dark centers!), scabiosa, and greenery.

If it’s not frosty outside, accent the bouquet with amaranth flowers. This flower comes in late-harvest colors (think deep purple, as shown here), meaning it can add a pop to any blush or ivory bouquet.
Sometimes less is more. We love the look of a single stem against a jewel tone or a rich fabric like velvet.
Of course, strawberries also appear at this time of year. Use fruit to add an unexpected twist to your look, like this bride did with a bouquet of purple berries, roses, ranunculus and cosmos.
With evergreens, berries and textures, this bouquet is right in line with the winter floral trend we mentioned. But to take yours to the next level, consider embracing the season’s hottest color: red!
Chic Winter Wedding Bouquets For 2023
In our minds, all reds are created equal, so don’t be afraid to experiment with deeper shades like purple, red, maroon and plum.
While we know white bouquets go with every season, there’s something special about a classic bouquet this time of year. Make your own by pinching the flower stems (leave the leaves!!) and mixing in delicate clematis and Japanese andromeda as shown here.
Peach might be the most unexpected color in this review, but that doesn’t mean we love it any less. See how it contrasts with the seasonal shades of red, green and purple!
Finish off your bouquet with a special touch, like wrapping holiday gifts. Because a winter wedding bouquet isn’t complete without a wrapped ribbon or stick, right?! Winter White Wedding Bouquets
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and an amazingly beautiful time for flowers. If you think you can’t have a beautiful winter wedding bouquet, think again. Many flowers are at their peak during the winter season (not to mention wedding flowers that bloom year-round), and they pair well with other seasonal accents, such as pine cones, berries, fresh evergreens, and more. When it’s time to meet with your wedding florist and plan your floral arrangements, it’s helpful to bring inspiration photos and other ideas so you’re both on the same page. Check out our favorite Christmas wreaths and other winter wreath ideas below.
While there are fewer flowers available during the winter wedding season than other times of the year, there are many varieties to choose from. In fact, the most popular wedding flowers that bloom between November and February are anemones, orchids, ranunculus, hollyhocks and sweet peas. You will also have other seasonal flowers on hand, such as amaryllis, cornflowers, holly and the Christmas flower: the poinsettia. Basics like roses, calla lilies and carnations are flowers that grow year-round and complement many winter bouquets, boutonnieres and wedding decorations. If you have your heart set on using flowers that bloom in a different season (such as peonies), your florist can help you find them or find similar alternatives.
Seasonal boughs of white cedar and eucalyptus served as the base for this Christmas bouquet, while red roses, orchids and white wax flowers completed the arrangement.
Think outside the traditional red and green color palette by adding lighter and darker colors. Bright red roses in this stunning bouquet are accented with deep purple scabiosa and crimson roses, introducing pops of red throughout the design.
Winter Wonderland Wedding Ideas
A large bouquet of flowers, cones and winter greenery evokes the spirit of Christmas without relying solely on red and green.
Choose monochromatic winter bouquets like these red roses and proteas to complement the main flowers by spreading out the greenery and other accents.
Use light pinks and purples with a hint of green to create a Christmas-inspired bridal bouquet that also feels super romantic. To complete the dreamy effect, wrap the bouquet with long satin ribbons.
Amaryllis are not only among the most popular winter wedding flowers, but if you’re looking for flowers that stand out, they’re a great option. Although the bright red variety is perfect for a Christmas wedding bouquet, amaryllis are also available in white, pink and peach.
Gorgeous Winter Wedding Bouquets
This rounded bouquet is a great example of how you can accessorize a winter look with a neutral color scheme. For festive cheer, add fragrant greenery like cedar or pine boughs (a tartan wedding dress belt is optional!).
A cascading wedding bouquet adds a touch of elegance to your look, especially when filled with deep red flowers. Use ribbons, like the purple flowers here, to emphasize one of the colors of the arrangement.
Pink eucalyptus, blush roses and silver brunia combine in this icy, cool tone. With curly tones and a big bow in the center, we love it for a Christmas-inspired styling.
Wedding Style: A French Wedding Themed Ceremony Few cities are more romantic than Paris – why not give your wedding a French touch? There are many ways to do this – and you don’t even have to be French.
The Ultimate Guide To In Season Winter Wedding Flowers
If your bouquet is relatively simple in terms of variety of flowers, increase the size to make it a bit larger. This classic design features spray roses, garden roses and hydrangeas, but its larger form makes it impossible to miss.
Peonies are traditional spring wedding flowers, but they look great in this bouquet of white flowers, ranunculus and greenery. Cotton balls and glued-on evergreens add a special winter touch.
Bridal bouquets do not have to be an exact copy of the main bouquet, but they should have the same type of flowers in smaller portions. Silk ribbons completed these roses, astilbe and laurels.
If you’re choosing pastel colors for a winter wedding, consider adding a darker tone for contrast. Pink and purple tulips were an unexpected (but beautiful) addition to this bouquet.
Unconventional Winter Wedding Bouquets To Die For
Merlot and red flowers bring a fresh atmosphere to your wedding day. Complement deep colors with touches of greenery, such as spiral eucalyptus or ferns.
Perfect for a late winter or early spring wedding, this small floral arrangement includes blue delphinium, hydrangea and ranunculus, with a gentle dusting of lilac and lemon petals.
Greenery is always in season and goes with any wedding style – plus, you can use it as the centerpiece of your bouquet.
