Holdrege’s Engagement Photos >> Cheyenne and Jordon’s engagement session is my dream session. While I love shooting in the mountains with these epic views, I keep coming back to the plains of Nebraska. I love everything about photographing someone in their home or where they spend most of their time. This is a special feeling for me!
Engagement Pics With Horses
We started this session in front of the feedlot where Jordon works. Cheyenne and Jordon’s two horses remained there, so they saddled them and set off. We took pictures with both of them on two horses, and then with just Cheyenne’s horse. With the feedlot in the back, we even managed to get some!

From there I followed them home and we photographed their cute dog Riggin. We took advantage of the buildings around their house and photographed Cheyenne’s magnificent ring on several horses.
Overall, I love how these photos turned out and I’m excited for the second half of their session next month! I am so excited to show you an engagement session with horses!!!! When Lacey first approached me about shooting her and Austin’s wedding, my first thought was, “I hope they bring a horse to the wedding!” As you can see, we definitely succeeded! It was a photographer’s dream shoot.
I met Lacey in kindergarten. I won’t say how many years ago! I am so excited to connect with my old classmates through photography and be with them at this special time. Lacey has always loved horses and I remember spending many days at her house. He’s a barrel racer just like his future husband! I met Austin for the first time at this session, but I can quickly tell that Lacey has found her perfect match! It’s obvious that they have a lot in common, but their feelings for each other are also very clear!
We started the session at Lacey’s parents house. It brought back a lot of memories, but it was a little different from what I remembered. Laci has always been the type of girl who chooses jeans over a dress (I mean, I choose yoga pants, so to each their own, right?) I saw a white dress with pretty horses. So we reached a compromise. Lacey chose what she liked best for the first half of the session. To tell you the truth, he chose a great one for them! The red color looks great on it and the background. In the second half of the session she accepted my suggestions and it was magic! Their portraits with horses are very interesting to me. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning during this part of the session!
Austin Engagement Photos
Lacey and Austin’s engagement was one for the books and I am so grateful they chose me to capture this moment for them. Their wedding is coming up in October, so stay tuned for this sweet, horse-loving couple’s perfect match! Anyone who knows me knows that a big part of my heart lies in horse photography and horse art in general. In fact, my photography actually started with horses and people on horses. This was before I thought about making a business out of my photography work.
Horses have always been my passion. My childhood was blessed with a father who rode with me. Literally. I don’t know when my parents put me on a horse for the first time, but I know of a family story where I was on a horse when I was three months old. Of course, I’m not alone – when my father was a babysitter, he used to take me Shiba horse riding. And the rest, as they say, is history.
It was never a secondary passion or occasional hobby for me, horses were my life. I took him to train horses for some of the best production facilities in the country. There are so many stories that I could list and share here, but it’s safe to say that now I’m a professional photographer, I kind of changed my path and didn’t continue to train parade horses professionally.
But I continued to photograph horses, and while that wasn’t Jenna Regan’s only focus on photography, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t inspired to be in front of a horse on camera.
Wild West Engagements On Horseback
Reminiscing about Longhorn cattle and horses was so much fun planning and photographing Zack and Lindy’s wedding at Lindy’s family ranch.
It’s even better than being such a sweet, fun family. I photographed them last summer as we celebrated the addition of our family with a recent wedding! To make it even more interesting, we managed to incorporate something else that is a big part of their lives, the horses and the family ranch.
In less than two hours, we put together engagement photos of the happy couple, family photos of two dress changes, wedding photos of horses, family photos of horses that included riding, and detailed photos of Lindy’s engagement ring.
It was a very busy photo shoot and the real key to making it all happen was the detailed planning I did with them beforehand. Before they stood in front of me with the camera, the three of us sat down to plan. In addition to the final products and what I had to offer, we talked about layout, lighting, clothing, any important things they wanted to add, and the order in which we would photograph each idea. There are tons of tips and tricks I’m happy to share with my clients so I can give them the best service and experience possible! I wanted Lindy and Zach to feel comfortable in front of the camera because I have the plan and handle all the logistics. After all, the worst thing that can happen is a photo session that turns from fun to stress.
Inland Empire Fairytale Engagement Photos
I’m happy to say that with all the preparations, it was a great photo shoot! Even though it was over 100 degrees that day, you couldn’t tell! (This is another place where my tricks and tips help!) I think this is the hottest situation I’ve ever photographed. The air was stagnant, there was no wind, no relief! But the photos were amazing and their image selection included too many photos to share on the blog, but here are a few of my favorites.
I am so excited for Zach and Lindy and look forward to sharing more of their story when I photograph their wedding in October in Oklahoma.
Thanks for stopping by the JRP blog where I’ll be featuring some of my favorite dog photography sessions. Take a look around and I hope to inspire you to plan a fun session for your dog too. Natural light lovers, blush lovers, Mexican food lovers, join me as I share some of my favorite engagement and wedding moments. I shoot in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and beyond. P.S: Blog research is better with a margarita!
A recent engagement session at the Horse Ranch with Lowe and Matt was like a dream! When I started working as a photographer, did I know that I would include horses in my shoots? Absolutely not! But am I happy that it’s part of my career? THAT! I’m so glad Lowe and Matt invited me to New Jersey so I could catch them with Leve’s beautiful name, Nina! And here’s the best part of all – Nina will be Lev’s “Mare of Honor” at their wedding! What a dream!

Not surprisingly, this was my first time working with a horse and it was very interesting and somewhat challenging. It definitely took a lot of patience! But take a look at the photos – I think you’ll agree it’s worth the extra time and effort! Towards the end of our session it started to rain, but Lowe and Matt proved to be troopers so we kept shooting! I’ve always loved the simple, romantic aura that rain gives to photos.
Lou and Matt will be getting married at Eagle Manor in New Jersey later this year! It is the most beautiful place with the perfect combination of a wedding in a palace on the water! I’m so excited to see these three amazing models again, especially Nina
