Gold Blush
Gold Blush – Girl, I used to wear shoes like the pair on this box of Benefit Gold Rush Blush, and I could run in them too!
Ah, memories of my former longer life… And by “bigger” I mean 5 feet 5 inches tall and 4 inches? heels.
Gold Blush
Okay, enough talking. 🙂 Benefit Gold Rush, their newest box o’ blushes, just arrived at counters in two sizes, a full size 0.17 oz. version for $29, and a smaller 0.08-oz. mini for $15. Both are peach pink with big baddie gold spots.

The top coat of gold shimmer is an overspray, but there is also glitter in the peach pink powder itself. So you won’t hurt to glitter with Gold Rush. That’s all I’m saying.
You also won’t be in pain if you spend your whole life after a HEAVY scented blush, strong enough to pass as a perfume, because this one can do that.
All Benefit’s boxes o’ bloss are scented (I think), but this is the strongest. Definitely the strongest I can remember. I get strong notes of sandalwood and sugar, and it’s also supposed to contain citrus and vanilla, but I don’t detect those at all.
So I really like some perfume-y powders, like Guerlain and Chanel bronzers, and I don’t mind smelling like a Nordstrom perfume counter when I wear them, but Gold Rush is a little too sweet for my taste. I think it’s fun, like it belongs in a hot pink body spray with neon star glitter, but you know how it is with perfume products. Just because I’m not a fan doesn’t mean you won’t like it.

You’d probably laugh too when you see me applying this blush because I look like I’m churning butter or chopping herbs with a mortar and pestle. LOL! Gotta work on showing it, man.
The stiff white brush that comes with it actually does a pretty good job. I just push it really hard into the pan, and swirl it around and around and around to stir up enough product, and if you’re caramel latte like me, you have to pile it on top, but lighter girls do between light and medium You have to work so hard.
That’s four (4!) coats of gold rush on my cheeks, and you can barely see it yet, right?
But here’s the thing: Even with all the effort that blush takes, I love how it looks on my skin. I think it looks “natural” (in air quotes because of the glitter) and beautiful, especially when I’m just wearing it over bare skin or a tinted moisturizer. The cowgirl theme is one with which benefits often come up. It’s unusually fragrant – not at all unpleasant and like most powders that are scented, it has a hint of sunscreen, although the notes seem to be citrus, vanilla and sandalwood. It’s not overpowering, more of a nuance than a stunner.

As you can see, it has a golden overspray for the first opening, but once you’re over it’s a peachy shade with a slight golden shimmer. It strikes me that it is very low in the box and when I check the weight it is 5g – Hula is 8g for example. Benefit varies the amount of product that goes into their signature square boxes without changing the size of the box.
I think this is quite wearable – the packaging has all the power, but this really means a decent everyday shade for the blush, especially if we get some sun. It’s £24.50 which seems on the heavy side to me, but if you can get through the summer it’s probably money well spent. You can find it HERE (free shipping).

Blushers are often overlooked in a girl’s makeup routine, but they can really complete a look. If you’re a blusher rookie, shimmery blushers are a great place to start because they not only make you look more awake and youthful, but also brighten them up.
This week in the Cosmo Beauty Lab, I tested the cult beauty favorite NARS Orgasm Blusher against the Sleek MakeUP High Street Dupe. The results?

This famous blush is one of Kim Kardashian’s all-time favorites. The color is hot pink with a beautiful golden shimmer throughout. The shimmer particles are super fine and don’t look as shiny on the face as in the compact. When I applied the blusher, it was very pigmented and blended well. It would probably take a long time, because a little goes a long way.
Another bonus is that the pack-like and compact comes with a handy mirror, which makes application super easy.
This Sleek MakeUP Blusher is an almost EXACT dupe of the NARS one, but at a fraction of the price. Even though it’s pink, the color has more of a coral undertone, and when applied to the face, it doesn’t have the same golden shimmer effect as the NARS blusher.
For a budget buy, the color was just as pigmented as the NARS, but I had to spend a little more time to get even coverage.

The packaging is similar as the blusher comes in a sleek black compact with a mirror. However, the compact is smaller in size, so it fits perfectly in your makeup bag!
Similar in color, and the only real difference is that the NARS blusher has more of a golden iridescent glow.

In general, there is not much difference between the two products, except for the price. If you want to invest in a long-lasting luxurious blush that also works as a beautiful highlight, the NARS Orgasm Blush is a perfect choice.

But if you’re looking for a handbag-friendly blusher to give you a pop of color on your cheeks, the Sleek MakeUP Dupe works just as well (with a little more blending!). Read on for our full product review. If you’re anything like me, sweltering summer days are a time to be more selective about the makeup you put on your face. Sometimes it’s just too hot for a full beat, so these days I choose to go light on make-up and only choose light products that increase the glow of my skin. I love a classic bronzed glow, but these days I’ve found a look that’s more peachy – that’s where blush comes into play. A good blush always makes me look young, fresh and sunny, like I’ve just come from St. But while blush can really take a glowing finish to the next level, as with any makeup product, there’s always room for improvement. To put together my minimalist summer makeup look, I was looking for a two-in-one blush. A blush that doubles as a highlighter is ideal because the less product I have to use on my face, the better I feel about sticking to my routine in the heat. I have already tried several blouses, but none gave me the result I was looking for. So when my editor approached me to try the Benefit Gold Rush Blush, I was more than excited. Did this product provide the luxurious summer finish I was looking for? Read on for all the details in my full review.
