Help How To Serve Salad Dressing – Skip the bottled stuff and use these healthy salad recipes to make your own at home for a fraction of the cost!

When I tell someone that I love healthy food, the first thing they inevitably ask me is if I eat salad all day. Here’s the truth for you: I actually don’t like salads that much. Of course, I’m not one to grab a bowl of mix from the cupboard, dump it in the green pile and happily go to town. I’m not a rabbit and I don’t like to eat either.

For me, for a salad to be good, it has to have something important. It has to have a good combination of taste, texture and really good dressing. I love vegetables, but let’s call a spade a spade – vegetables can be boring-tasty if you don’t do something to spice it up a bit. And a good salad dressing makes vegetables exciting (even for people who aren’t big vegetable fans – like my two-year-old, who happily eats raw cucumbers and tomatoes when dipped in the Greek Yogurt Ranch Dressing you see below).

Ultimate Chicken Salad Recipe

Salad dressing is super easy to make at home, and I think learning to make your own salad dressing in your own kitchen is a very useful skill. It will save you tons of money. The markup on bottled salad dressings is HUGE – you can get most of them for a kroner.

You also have complete control over the ingredients. Have you ever driven down the salad aisle and checked the ingredient list? Many of them are full of artificial colors and flavors, which are simply unnecessary

And my favorite part is that you can customize the flavor to your liking. When you land your perfect “dressing” for your family’s tastes, you’ll always want that recipe in your pocket.

Below, I’m sharing fifteen of my favorite easy, simple, and healthy salad dressing recipes that you can make at home. Honestly, you probably have most of the ingredients to make most of the costumes already in your pantry and refrigerator – there are no pants ingredients that you have to track down at the specialty store.

All of these recipes can be made using a jar and shaker. Just grab a jar with a tight lid (I use a jar with a wide mouth and a plastic lid), throw in all the ingredients and shake the chicken out of it until combined. There are a few recipes below that can be made smooth if you use a food processor or blender – but you don’t need to if you’re fine with a thicker dressing.

All the recipes below are dressed around one cup – enough to last a few days of salad, but not so much that it will go bad before you have a chance to use it. Use the dressing with milk within a week. Vinaigrettes can last two weeks or more in the refrigerator in an airtight container.

Each recipe below contains amounts for using fresh or dried herbs – you can use whole fresh, whole dried, or a combination of the two. Just remember that dried herbs will take a little longer to infuse their flavor into the dressing. A good rule of thumb is that if you use mostly fresh ingredients, you can get away with using your clothes in 15-30 minutes. If you are using mostly dry ingredients, it is better to wait 2+ hours to allow the flavors to develop. Let’s begin.
