Recently, Designs by Ginny had the opportunity to create unique and fun artwork for The Landing Catering, located at 2801 South Michigan Street, South Bend, IN. The Landing hosts an after-hours event for the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce. To better showcase what Landing Catering has to offer in terms of service, they have set up a number of focus tables. Ginny’s designs have been commissioned to create centerpieces for every table, birthday, mardi gras, wedding and holiday theme. For our birthday table, we decided to celebrate The Landing Catering as they have been in business for 22 years. Keeping with the theme we used champagne bottles. We have created custom labels for bottles that emphasize 22 years of business. The single bottle is set in an ice cube tray with a beautiful ice cube, cut with 22 numbers and gold glitter. A bucket of ice was placed on the charger along with green tea, another bottle of champagne and faux grapes.
Mardi Gras Table Setting Ideas
Mardi Gras is always a fun theme at the event. Lots of colors to play with. We used two colors on the table and cloth. We changed the colors of the rugs and folded them to look like a king’s hat keeping the shape and theme. Ginny’s designs also hand painted water glasses with Fleur Des Lis adding to the fun of the table. The glasses can then be used in a good way. For the centerpiece, we used a tall glass cylinder, topped with red and green feathers, cut-out styrofoam glitter masks, a Bourbon Street sign, and ting sequins. The floor was gold, purple and green. Around the glass window was a regular fleur des lis cut and inside the glass was a battery light burning in the middle. The beads are placed in random order, like some gold coins (twice).
Mardi Gras Centerpiece
For a Holiday theme, we created a nature-themed backdrop using silver-plated branches and styrofoam deer cutouts that were painted and glittered. They were placed under a green canopy that had a row of small lights. Snow color was used to design the thread and metal was used to make bows on each side of the frame. This ribbon was also used to make pine rings, along with pine and green. A white tablecloth is then placed on a silver tablecloth that adds extra pizazz to the overall look of the table setting for a party table. A beautiful shade of white sets a beautiful look on the table.
For the theme of the wedding we used orange roses and pink hydrangeas on the multi-colored table. If you didn’t know that flowers are silk, you would think that they are actually designed with candles as our base to make it look better. Adding to the appeal of this piece you left the color of the crystal green to match the color of the table. Orange slices were placed on the plate and bottom of the table for a burst of color. The panels are placed in front of a heart cut in pink, adding a pop of color. A box of roses and oranges is combined with the heart and compliments the face. Very bright color but good overall!
For the hors d’oeuvres table we used burgundy roses and hydrangeas, white orchids and white sprays of tall, green, copper-plated branches on antique white candlesticks for an elegant look.

Diy Mardi Gras Party Decor
Wings have taken center stage in many areas, providing height and drama to the ball table. Most of the centerpieces are placed on speakers with mirrors around the speakers or small flower offerings in glass containers.
Another key element that appeared in many of the centerpieces was the use of horn instruments inspired by New Orleans jazz music, a perfect visual for the Mardi Gras celebration.
Red, green and gold set the tone for the occasion. You can see the flur-de-lis wall hangings at the back of the building, above. Masks, another symbol of Mardi Gras, are also used. And always, pearls everywhere.
The installation took the whole day and included small plans and designs used in the cocktail area and bar. After working for many hours, some of the beads, hats and feathers found a way to use another…

I ordered something from a Mardi Gras table a week ago (I just couldn’t resist) from a seller who will keep his name. I was promised delivery last week, then tomorrow and today. Apparently, he has been out since 9:45 am. I called every post office I could find a number for and I believe there is an APB out there on the package and my tracking number should be rolling under your local information by 11:00 pm after school. Well, needless to say it’s late and it’s after 7pm.
