Outfit For Cold Weather – Dressing for winter weather often means wearing as many layers as possible – which can end up looking bulky rather than stylish. Style winter whites as your base layer, then add interest with a fur coat. White sneakers work well if you want to wear an ultra-casual ensemble or dressy casual with white boots.

Here is the first example of a cozy winter outfit with faux leather leggings (you’ll see why I call them winter food!). Wear a hooded blazer and moto boots, then grab a backpack or crossbody for a stroll around town.
A vest is a great way to dip your toes into the world of faux fur. Balance the stylish vibe of the vest with black denim and floor-length boots.
Mix functional sporty pieces like my Lululemon puffer and beanie with casual base layers for an all-black look.
During the week, athleisure is the foundation of almost all of my cozy casual winter looks – I top it off with a chic coat.

Cold Weather Running: Winter Running Clothes You Need
I love this look when I want to feel extra toasty. Layer a faux fur, fur or velvet coat over fitted base layers like pants or jeans and a turtleneck.
This is one of my favorite cold weather outfits as it makes the perfect transition from mild fall temperatures to actual winter weather. OTK boots keep feet warm, a turtleneck wraps around the upper body, and a coat adds a finishing touch. For added warmth, you can layer skin-colored or black tights underneath.
You’ve probably seen belted sweaters and slip skirts in street style photos on Pinterest and elsewhere; the belt helps create a waist without taking away from the relaxed look of the sweater. Throw on a coordinating wool coat, then add tights and a fitted camisole underneath if you need to.
Reach for high-quality tights to stay warm while transporting your trunks in the mines. Try over-the-knee boots or thigh-high boots and choose the one that feels best with the proportions of the skirt (my *general* rule of thumb is that the longer the skirt, the shorter I want my boots to be for balance).
Cold Weather Date Night Outfit
It looks very stylish with contrasting denim on the bottom, in a tone that goes with the sweater and coat. Try this look for a casual Friday at the office, a night out, or a day-to-night look.
The style is easy. Paired with stiletto boots and a camel coat, it’s perfect for a date night or any classy winter event.
For a current, slightly edgy look, wear it with a sweater, heels and a leather jacket paired with leather or faux leather pants.
This cute winter dress combination is perfect for formal events or special occasions. Throw on an ankle length woolen coat (I’d go with camel or white here).
Cold Weather Workwear Pieces I’m Eyeing
Mastering the layering of your winter clothes to keep you warm and not look bulky takes some practice. Here’s how I learned how to put together cute cold weather outfits that are stylish and adaptable to cold temperatures:
The golden rule of layering is that each layer should work on its own. Your base layers should be close to your body. For example, if you work in a heated office but have a pleasant commute, you’ll want the view to be complete once the top two layers are removed.
I discovered that three is the magic number for multiples. Any more layers can make you look bulky or (worse!) make it difficult to move.
When it comes to ordering layers, I always try to think “thin on the inside, thick on the outside.” Faux fur, down, puffy jackets and parkas, as well as bulkier items like fur are on top. Thinner materials like cotton, pima and merino wool work well for base layers.
How To Look Smart In Winter: 7 Chic Cold Weather Outfits
Hands, heads and feet are the first to lose heat, so I pay special attention to covering them. Leggings will be your best friend under dresses and skirts, while knee-high and thigh-high boots help cover up your legs. If it’s especially cold, I try to keep thin merino wool socks, touchscreen gloves and cashmere pants on hand.
Even though we don’t live in a climate where we regularly experience winter weather, I’m always grateful to have high quality winter coats and jackets that keep out all the elements! They are also useful for our ski trips. Wool, wool, down and nylon are excellent insulators. Mackage and Reiss make beautiful wool coats and Woolrich, Moncler, Mackage and Save the Duck make beautiful tailored hedgehog coats.
Admittedly, there’s definitely a temperature and type of weather (wind, sleet, etc.) where looking cute becomes an afterthought when trying to keep your body from turning into a complete shell of ice. 🙂 Even so, a few practical ones can keep you warm without adding a base layer
Very bulk. Here’s what I’ll bring when we visit Montana, where the weather can be damaging:

Dressing for a cold can be tricky – it’s often impossible to wear the latest fashions when you just want to bundle up and bury yourself in a pile of warm sweaters and cardigans.
However, it is entirely possible to look good and feel good when the cold weather hits. The best option is to choose a long faux fur or toy coat that will keep you warm even if you wear small clothes. Of course, layering is another key step – sometimes you want to just have thermal layers under your clothes, and sometimes layering with visible layers looks amazing.
