Pink And Grey Wedding Cakes
Pink And Grey Wedding Cakes – First of all, we love big wedding cakes. They are very stressful from a logistics and delivery point of view, but a dream from a design point of view! The 5 plus levels are a great size to play with and achieve a beautiful balance of different styles… especially for a glitzy wedding! Here’s a beautiful five tier silver sequin wedding cake for lovely Katie and James who are celebrating at the stunning Brackenborough Hotel in Lincolnshire.
The top two tiers of this gorgeous cake are decorated with edible silver sequins. These are perfect for an instant glow! The top tier was completely covered, while the second to the top tier was scattered with sequins. The original idea for this cake was based on our Peony Ruffle Wedding Cake from a few years ago. beautiful flowers tick Metal sequins. check Luxury Ruffles. check

This cake also has white and gray marble layers, which we love. Marbled fondant is one of those moments that will take your breath away. Very random and hard to control. Also, you should always use more fondant than usual. We were immediately pleased with how it turned out. It was dark enough to stand out against the ruffles and sequins, but not light enough to be distracting!

Fondant frills complete the bottom tier. Edible frills were all the rage a few years ago…thankfully they are back in trend. Yes, it takes a lot of hours to work…even if the two of us share the work, but it is worth it. Frills always add a surprising amount of drama to a cake. Plus they feel weightless and so soft!
Silver sequins were mined on the upper two levels, creating a “turned-over” effect below the larger level. These looked amazing against the silver backdrop and silver sequin tablecloth! Our three big sugar flowers were nestled on the levels. We created a pink David Austin style flower with outer petals, pale yellow stamens and ruffled center petals. We also designed a white rose in a calm, modern style. Finally, above the pink textured rose was our signature open white peony with white petals and pistil and stamen center!
It was a beautiful pink wedding! We loved the mini bottle of pink gin left on the table. I’m serious, he wouldn’t have stayed the night with us if we were a guest! They were the perfect little gift and especially useful for making a drink or two!
Katie and James’ big day was held at the beautiful and tranquil Brackenborough Hotel near New Louth in Lincolnshire. Although shipping every wedding cake is stressful, it’s also wonderful for us. Many British weddings take place in country hotels and castles. It means beautiful roads, countryside and instant relaxation. Brackenborough was no different! It has stunning grounds, an ivy covered frontage and views over the rolling English countryside

Now for the beautiful flowers! The floral art behind Katie and James’ wedding was created by Jo at The Wedding & Flower Boutique and Jill at Century Flowers! When we arrived to set up the cake, they worked hard to create beautiful romantic pieces. Each table had glittering candles filled with flowers. The outside of the wedding arch was decorated with pink garden roses (which smelled like pink lemons)! There was a full run of fresh flowers on the top / head table. Finally, the entrance was decorated with lots of beautiful flowers, from the fun donut wall full of rose petals to the glass seating table decorated with pink flowers.
We love that this welcome table features a large arrangement of soft pink and white roses, astilbe and veronica flowers. Lots of leaves too, which are popular all year round! All of our weddings in 2018 seem to feature more wild or carefree foliage and greenery.
One of our current favorite flowers is astilbe (middle right part of the picture above, upper right corner of the picture below). They almost look like pink plums.
Finally, here is a picture of the full 5-level beauty! Dramatic ruffles, a modern marble effect, elegant white sparkling sequins and large flowers help make this design stand out. Congratulations to Katie and James!
