Resorts In San Diego On The Beach
Resorts In San Diego On The Beach – SeaWorld San Diego is one of our most requested attractions, especially for visiting families. Finding a hotel near SeaWorld San Diego is easy because it’s on the edge of the Mission Bay neighborhood, close to many other popular tourist attractions, and close to the San Diego airport.
I help people plan family vacations to San Diego and get the inside scoop on our local hotel listings. Where to choose when a vacation centers around SeaWorld San Diego is often confusing, so I’ll cover it and how to save money on SeaWorld San Diego tickets.
Resorts In San Diego On The Beach
There are no hotels near SeaWorld San Diego that are within a 25-minute walk. The good news is that driving there is easy, thanks to the large parking lot. You can also easily take a ride share like Uber.
San Diego Family Resorts That Will Entertain Kids
This list is designed to reference the top rated hotels in all price ranges that are as close to SeaWorld San Diego as possible. It’s a little more diverse than the others I’ve collected because it covers so many roots. To give you an idea, both the Mission Beach and Old Town neighborhoods are close to SeaWorld San Diego.
Although they are a little further away, downtown San Diego hotels and La Jolla hotels are also perfect for a SeaWorld-centric visit. I recommend checking out these two areas for those looking for true luxury hotel options, as there are none on this list.
Some of the hotels with SeaWorld in their names aren’t as close to the park as the designation implies. If you are considering a hotel that is not on this list, check the distance on Google Maps or to avoid disappointment. Speaking of distance, here are a few things to remember about going to the park.
I mentioned how far each hotel is walking distance from SeaWorld San Diego while walking is possible. Otherwise, I mentioned the driving time.
San Diego’s Premier Beachfront Resort
Driving distance can be shorter or longer than walking distance. The hiking trails and driving routes are different because there are bridges over the bay and busy roads that must be safely crossed in some areas to reach the park entrance.
You should definitely buy your SeaWorld San Diego tickets online, in advance, before you go to the park to get the lowest prices because there are often online specials. The best deal will be on their website. Remember that you must make a reservation in advance.
Tip: General parking at SeaWorld San Diego is free for annual pass holders, but costs $25 per car for everyone else. You can save time by purchasing parking online, and depending on where your hotel or resort is located, you can save money by taking Uber.
Why go: Families love the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa & Marina, and it just completed a $65 million renovation. This is one of the only hotels with water slides in San Diego (there are three and guests must be 42 inches or taller to use them). Four blocks to Belmont Park, our waterfront amusement park and the beaches at Mission Beach. Plenty of restaurants and shops along the boardwalk and main road.
Wide Appeal Expected From Renovated Mission Bay Resort
Beach Amenities: Located in Mission Bay, the hotel does not have a private beach, but one of the best things to do in Mission Bay is water sports. Mission Bay Sports Center rents jet skis, kayaks, boats, water skis and bicycles for use on the bay. And you can enjoy private and group sailing charters that also depart from the hotel’s marina.
Good to know: This hotel used to have a Regency Club, but it is no longer in service. You’ll read mixed reviews, but most of them are pre-renovations. This is one of my top picks for amenities and surroundings in the area. They offer matching rooms, and they are:
Reservations: If you stay two nights or more, you can get a room upgrade at the time of booking (subject to availability), a $100 property credit, daily breakfast for two and more. If you are staying two nights or more, send me the Hyatt Prive rate for your dates.
Why Go: Paradise Point Resort is a 462-room, four-star, bungalow-style resort located in Mission Bay, designed in 1962 by famed Hollywood director Jack Scarborough. The 44-acre resort actually feels like a secluded tropical island, as more than a mile of bay beach surrounds it. Guests enjoy five pools, tranquil lagoons and lush gardens. Bay Beach has no shortage of waves (which appeal to families with young children), and guests can take advantage of on-site water sports rentals.
A Day Trip To San Diego’s Beautiful Coronado Island
The resort is located on the opposite side of Mission Bay from the beach. You have to drive 2 miles around the bay to get to the beach (must take Uber in summer as beach parking is difficult). It feels like the closest hotel to SeaWorld because you can see the park when you walk in, but it’s still a 30-minute walk to the front door.
Beach amenities: Along Bay Beach, you’ll find 14 fire pits, beach games like volleyball, bocce ball, and horse racing. Beach toys and accessories can be purchased at the island market. Daily surf lessons from the Paradise Surf Academy (participate on board the boat to their headquarters) on the beach.
Good to know: It’s isolated because there isn’t much in the way of restaurants and shops nearby. You will also read mixed reviews about this resort, but they have been consistently better (still some complaints about service and cleanliness) since the renovation. The resort is quite large, so there can be a fair amount of walking, although golf cart rides are available.
They used to have a water taxi to SeaWorld San Diego but they have closed it. As you pass SeaWorld San Diego as you drive to and from the resort, you’ll feel San Diego more than any of the other hotels and resorts on this list.
Catamaran Resort Hotel And Spa, San Diego
Why Go: The newly renovated San Diego Mission Bay Resort is a great option for those checking in to visit SeaWorld and other parts of San Diego as the resort offers excellent freeway access (we’re sure no freeway noise Not heard of), but also newly renovated. Rooms A large heated pool and water sports. There is a good selection of hotels on the beach.
The Mission Bay Boardwalk is in front of the hotel, as well as a beautiful sandy beach. Reserve a fire pit, as s’mores kits are available at the on-site shop.
The resort was most recently known as the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa, but is now part of the Noble House Hotels & Resorts collection of experience-driven luxury properties.
Beach Amenities: Sandbox rental bikes (sari, beach cruisers, children’s bikes and trailers) to ride on the boardwalk and sand toys for use on the beach. Jet skis, Segways, stand-up paddleboards, pontoons and more for rent at the Action Sports Resort’s marina. There is a beach volleyball net (balls available at the front desk)
Best Family Resorts Near San Diego, Ca (2023)
Good to know: Like Paradise Point, it’s on the other side of the beach, however, you’ll feel less isolated at this hotel due to the boardwalk and easy highway access. It’s a scenic 4-mile drive around the bay to the ocean on Mission Beach.
Awards: #8 Best Resorts in San Diego, 2019 (US News & World Report); #2 Best Family Resorts in America in 2019 (Today)
Reservations: I can accommodate you with the Noble House VIP package which includes a 15% discount, waived resort fee and upgrade at check-in, subject to availability. It’s a big deal.
Why go: Bahria Resort Hotel was Mission Bay’s first hotel. The Mediterranean-themed resort sits on a 14-acre island jutting into Mission Bay and has its own private beach. It is a sister property of the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, which means there is transportation between the two hotels and is known for offering good value.
Sandiegoville: San Diego’s Paradise Point Resort & Spa To Become Jimmy Buffett Themed Margaritaville Island Resort
To reach the beach at Mission Beach and Belmont Park, guests must take a pleasant and relaxing 10-minute walk. This is another beach hotel choice because you have the bay beach and the beach nearby.
Beach Amenities: Guests can rent free cabanas on the bay’s private beach and enjoy seasonal children’s beach activities, summer beach concerts and summer galas. Rentals of wetsuits, boogie boards, rafts, paddle boats, kayaks, motorboats, wave runners/divers are available year-round.
Good to know: It’s an old resort which partly explains why it’s great value for money given the location. Baha also has a reputation for good service. This is one of the family suite hotels near SeaWorld San Diego, which sleeps six in two queen beds and a sofa bed.
Why Go: The Dana on Mission Bay is a comfortable, low-key hotel that welcomes guests with a warm atmosphere. It’s the closest hotel to SeaWorld San Diego and about a mile to the heart of the action on Mission Beach. The 10-acre resort has two main buildings: Marina Cove and Waterfront
