Spring may be remembered for fresh flowers and April showers, but in the world of weddings, it’s all about the new colors that represent the new life of the season – and the start of a big adventure: wedding planning! Choosing your wedding color palette will be one of the first things you do when planning your wedding, and these color palettes for spring weddings are just the thing to give your bash a new look.
This season, spring brings a plethora of new seasonal color palettes (get it?), and we love these unique color combos for spring weddings. Trends come and go, however, which is why we reached out to some renowned designers and event planners to find out what’s new, what’s here to stay, and what’s coming to weddings this spring.
Winter tombstones are getting a new look for spring: their pastel-colored counterparts. Think lavender instead of deep purple, spring green instead of emerald, and hints of burgundy, explains Daniel Quick, creative director of Magnolia Bluebird Design & Events. It’s like wearing blue topaz instead of sapphire – both are gemstones, but one definitely has a different feel than the other. Even the blush tones have a richness that gives them a deeper jewel tone flavor that adds a luxurious vibe to an event, Quick says, adding that her favorite combination is spring green and ivory.
Beautiful Spring Wedding Themes And Ideas
Say hello to green, even if you’re sticking to a neutral color palette. Greenery is everywhere, from green-based flower arrangements to hints of green on stationery and tables. Even an accent like a green velvet couch can liven up a living room setting. PlannerTracy Taylor Wardis is seeing more and more couples incorporating bold pops of green into their classic feel, especially through the use of flowers and accent decor. “Playing with colors found in nature is a great source of inspiration for achieving timeless designs that are still fresh and modern,” he says.
Who knew your favorite chambray shirt could inspire your wedding day? Shades of blue commonly found in denim jeans are finding their way into reception wear, glassware and specialty decor. “From chinoiserie to shibori, the color blue is still there,” says Quick, who often mixes patterns and color tones to bring an interesting quality to a space setting. Blue has the added benefit of being particularly expressive. In marriage: Color symbolizes loyalty and strength, two things many of us look for in our relationships.
Your Lisa Frank dreams may have just come true: Bright fabrics, glassware, photo booth backdrops, stationery, and even flowers are here for spring—and beyond. Erica Taylor Haskins, founding partner of Tinsel Experiential Design, explains, “This love affair with fluffy cream and pearls for the unicorns and mermaids of our childhood feels like a grown-up.” His team is practicing this idea using modern mylar runners for tablecloths. As well as sparkling linen napkins. Couples can even add neutral flatware and wine glasses to the festive atmosphere.
Couples are no longer rejecting bright colors when it comes to color palettes for spring weddings. Instead, they emphasize their identity with vibrant shades like hot pink, mustard yellow, cerulean blue and even orange. After all, there is something vibrant and fiery about intense colors. “Our husbands and weddings are embracing color in a big way, which makes me so happy,” Haskins says. “It’s a real departure from ‘Blush and Bashful’.” This is especially effective in minimal spaces where white space complements bright colors. Haskins says it’s “very modern and city chic”.

You don’t have to say goodbye to earth tones and neutral palettes just yet, admits Quick. He expects to see plenty of neutral colors — ivory, cream, champagne, beige — throughout the spring season, and for good reason: He believes the ongoing trend reflects the current political and social climate. “With so much noise and distraction in the world, couples are enjoying a more relaxed environment,” she explains. We welcome spring with open arms and can’t wait for spring weddings around the corner. A lot, we’re especially looking forward to beautiful spring wedding color palettes inspired by seasonal flowers.
