Cub Scout Blue And Gold Themes – Phew…I’ve been extra busy this week. I have been away for the last 10 days and once I got back into town I had to start working on 10 centerpieces for my son’s blue and gold party centerpiece. Here is what I came up with.

I have been a craft hoarder and have had coffee cans for the past year. I finally found a use for them and decided to recycle the cans into centerpieces by covering them with paper.

The cub scout insignia is fleur-de-lis and I actually didn’t think I had a fleur-de-lis cut, but I did a search on my Gypsy and it turns out I have 6 to choose from! I just love all the hidden secrets of the Cricut cartridge! I chose to use the Fleur-di-lis from Sweethearts in the 3.75 inch section along with the shade base. If you don’t have a die cutting machine, fleur-de-lis metal with a hand die cutting machine will also work well.

Okay, I’ll give you a little tip in case you ever want to restore coffee cans. Coffee cans are 12 1/2 inches in diameter and my paper strips were 12 inches, so I had to come up with a solution for the missing 1/2 inch. I glued another strip of cardboard embossed with the Fleur-di-lis symbol to cover my paper hole. To give the cans a bit more of an Outdoorsman look, I tied some burlap twine around them.

The ribbon stack and rosettes are fleur-de-lis cut, but since I needed 20 and didn’t have time to do any real detail, I just made these rosettes by hand. They measure 3″ and 4″ wide.

For the center rosette, I embossed some fleur-di-lis insignia circles and printed some Cub Scout clipart. The boys loved the rosettes and as boys they began to pretend the dowels were swords. I wish I made enough so everyone could take one home, maybe I will for next year.

This is how the centerpieces looked on the table at dinner, connected with balloons inside. Disclaimer: This post may contain affiliate links. Cub Scout Magic Shows For Blue And Gold (blue & Gold) Banquets And Meetings

The Blue and Gold Cub Scout Banquet is a highlight for our Cub Scouts and we want to make it as special as possible for them!

I love my Girl Scout. However, I tend to let my husband handle the scouting responsibilities! However, I somehow volunteered to plan my blue and gold party at Cub Scouts… (I always somehow managed to get myself into these things).

It ended successfully!! I was thrilled with how it turned out, and wanted to share what we did if you find that you volunteer for such a fool.

1) We changed the cards – blue / “gold” – and also changed the colors of the plate. Instant striking color and contrast.

2) Our blue and gold banquet theme was “camping with the scouts”, so we asked the scouts to make some “campfires” using rocks, tissue paper and a tea light – they are on an old CD.

Fortunately, at our place, the back wall was blue, so we taped an array of blue and gold balloons in a rectangular shape.

One was a lumberjack pack and we used props other than the birthday sign. He had a compass, flashlight, trees and other camping type paraphernalia that go along with Boy Scout themed camping.

We had a call to action and parents and family members brought them in. I filled them with blue and gold paper filler that I got at the dollar tree.

Then I printed out Cub Scout signs and glued them to wooden skewers and placed them in the jars.

Have you ever planned a Cub Scout reunion or a blue and gold party? Let me hear about it! Do you have questions about something we did? I would love to help you make a successful party! I am also looking forward to another successful Blue and Gold Banquet in 2019!
