How To Wear Bridal Veil
How To Wear Bridal Veil – Welcome to my blog, where I share highlights of everything from my clients’ wedding days and portrait sessions, to new features and our adventures around the world.
As for veils, I think the choice is cathedral length and all…and this is coming from someone who doesn’t wear cathedral veils! They have grown in popularity over the past few years and if you’ve ever seen a photo of them, you can see why. As it turns out, there are options from style and length to color and type of fringe! I wanted to dive a little deeper into this option so that brides-to-be can decide which one suits them best!

As a side note, I want to give credit where credit is due! I’m clearly not an expert on veils and used Britten Weddings as a source for the content and images in this post! They are veil experts as they make custom selections for weddings – be sure to check them out!
Wedding Veil Lengths And Styles: An Easy Guide
STYLE I mistakenly thought a cathedral veil was a TYPE of veil, but it’s actually long and we’ll talk about that below! However, there are a few styles I’d like to touch on:
| This is similar to a double layer veil in that it covers your face. However, it has no attachment point, it simply snaps into place or holds with a headband. I actually LOVE this type and think it is very underrated!
| An alternative to the veil if you don’t like the head idea but love the look!
I didn’t realize that the long name suggested where to wear veils! Of course, this was established many years ago and is not valid today, but it is still interesting to understand the history. Here are some of the most popular lengths:
How To Choose Your Wedding Veil So You Look Beautiful In Your Photographs
EDGE TYPE Again, I was completely naive thinking that the veil was either a lace edge or a “plain” edge! As you can see, there are many different things:
The color is a little lighter than the previous category, but it doesn’t start and end with just white as you might think! Bone white and champagne have become popular choices in recent years to keep up with the many off-white dresses on the market. While the veil doesn’t have to match your dress, you definitely want to try to get close. Britten Weddings says, “if in doubt, choose a shade lighter than your dress.”

Why Do Brides Wear Wedding Veils?

On your special day, you want every aspect of your outfit to be perfect – from your wedding veil to your shoes.
Here we will focus on the wedding veil – an important piece of clothing for the bride as it creates the outfit and frames the face during the ceremony.
The veil is traditionally worn to protect the bride from evil spirits, as well as to provide additional modesty to the groom before he introduces himself as his father during the ceremony. However, today is the way to combine tradition and fashion, so it is very important to choose the right one!

Veil length is a major factor for anyone choosing a veil: do you want it simple and short or long and flowing?
Shorter veils that cover the face or shoulders suit modern dresses, and elbow- and waist-length veils are more suitable for more formal wedding dresses. Full chapels and long cathedral veils (as the name suggests!) are best suited for large weddings with wide aisles.
When choosing a wedding veil, you can traditionally choose between three different widths. The thinnest is 137 cm. It is designed for an elegant look and allows the bride to show off additional details on her wedding dress such as elegant sleeves or decorative straps.
If the bride chooses a veil with a width of 274 cm, then it covers the arms and shoulders. It looks best with a strapless dress. A veil with a width of 182 cm is known as a veil of medium thickness. This measure acts as a medium between the other two. A veil of this size will cover the arms, but at the same time will show some details of the dress.
How To Attach Your Veil To A Headpiece
Traditionally, the veil can be made up to three levels. The choice depends on the style of the dress, for example, a single-layer hijab will look elegant and sophisticated, but more than two hijabs are better with classic and traditional dresses.
When more than one layer of hijab is used, then traditionally one of the layers serves as a ‘blush’, which covers the bride’s face during the ceremony and is lifted by the groom after the vows are complete and the couple is ready for the first time. kiss as husband and wife.
Most brides will choose a veil in the same color as the dress, for example white, white or ivory. But now more and more brides choose slightly different colors and shades, this will still combine well with the dress, but will give a slight contrast that highlights the best features of the hijab and the dress.
Some examples of hijab colors are blush, champagne and grey/blue, all of which work well and allow the bride to stand out.

The traditional matte finish can be seen in the regular finish. It is important to have a color swatch to match the dress before you decide to buy anything, as it is not always possible to tell the exact color and shade of the image.
Generally, the bride will choose to wear the same hijab as the dress, but a more modern twist is to choose a slightly different color or color to create a color or design.
You can choose up to three levels of veil, and the choice comes down to the type of dress. A single-layered veil is more suitable for elegant, modern dresses, and a double-layered or multi-layered veil is more suitable for traditional style dresses.
A double or multi-layered veil usually features a ‘blush’ that covers the bride’s face during the ceremony and is lifted by the groom before the first kiss at the ceremony.
A Guide To Wedding Dress Veils
There are many additional layers of embellishment and sophistication that can be added to a bridal veil. Adding intricate trim with different materials or a beautiful floral pattern can help accentuate the dress and pull the whole outfit together.
More traditional and structured dresses come with decorative veiled hems, while elegant dresses go with simple necklines. You may want to match a dress pattern to a wedding veil, but it’s best to get a pattern with your wedding dress before you buy!
Trying on several wedding veils is important, so a visit to a bridal boutique after deciding on a dress is always a good choice. Many suppliers also provide material and veil samples so you can compare without buying the entire veil.
