While your wedding day outfit is front and center, your wedding manicure is a small detail, which means you can take risks with it. Go bold with a bold shade or try a complex nail design. Whatever you decide, be sure to bring reference photos to the salon so your nail technician can understand your vision. And if you prefer to do your nails yourself for pre-wedding events? Invest in a few must-have tools (like the Sunday or Olive and June manicure sets) and a few fine-tipped art brushes. That way, you’ll have everything you need to create an Insta-worthy home manicure. Are you ready to be inspired? Read on to see our favorite wedding nail ideas.

The timing of the wedding manicure depends on the schedule leading up to the big day. If you plan to spend a relatively cool couple of days before the wedding, you can go early. “It’s best to get your nails done two or three days before the wedding, but they can be done closer to the big day to give you time to schedule other appointments,” says nail artist and owner Lexi Suga. However, if you’re full of last-minute things (or simply prone to sudden interruptions), you may want to reschedule the appointment for the actual day. “I recommend 24 hours in advance,” says Kendra Woolridge, owner and CEO of Janet & Joe. In Washington, D.C. “Sometimes people’s nails get chipped or you have to touch them if you make them work too far.”

If you’re particularly worried about nail accidents, you can always get them done the morning of your wedding day. However, make sure you allow enough time for this and remember to allow enough drying time to match your wedding dress and make any last minute repairs.

Beautiful Wedding Nail Art Ideas For Your Big Day 1

There are many options when it comes to wedding nails: gel nails, acrylic nails, dip nails, natural nails. How do you choose? If you are not sure which wedding manicure is best, we are happy to help. Experts agree: The best thing you can do is go with what makes you feel confident and comfortable.

However, if you’re really unsure, Suga recommends using your natural nails to make them last longer. “I definitely recommend a gel manicure at least for your wedding day to make sure there aren’t any chipping changes or problems.” He says. “Unless you want to do a manicure the morning of your wedding or the night before, the polish is more likely to chip or chip after a few days.” She adds that acrylic or Gel X extensions (soft and flexible extensions you can add to the tip of the nail to add length) are also good options.

Whatever you decide, Woolridge recommends following one golden rule: never go longer than your normal length. “If you’re not used to cutting your nails to a certain length, it’s really hard to do things,” she says. “You don’t need any other distractions on your wedding day.” If you want more length for your wedding day, get it before the actual day so you can experience the feeling.

So you’ve chosen the type of nails you’ll be rocking at your wedding reception, but you’re still not sure what kind of manicure to choose. Here’s the good news: There are many different ways to narrow down your options. Think about your own personal style first, says Suga. “When my clients get married, we look at the wedding dress or outfit they’re wearing, their personal style and the mood they want to go with it.” Your wedding day look (dress, shoes, hair and makeup) can help with your wedding craftsmanship. For example, a fitted dress may call for a modern, minimal design (think: Ombre French manicure), while a lacy, boho dress offers floral-inspired nail art.

Another way to narrow down your wedding nail idea options? Consider your color scheme and flower arrangement when choosing nail colors, says Woolridge. “I want a nail look that doesn’t clash with floral arrangements or bouquets,” she says. “If you have soft tones for your wedding, I don’t recommend going for a bright color because it will clash.”

“My favorite wedding nails are the white ombre manicure,” says Suga. “I’ve been doing it for 10 years and it never fails – [my clients] are always overheated with this set and usually find it when they get married!” Suga uses a highly pigmented white gel to achieve the look and applies it to the tip of the nail. She then uses a lighter sponge to blend the sponge to create a faded look.

We love this wedding nail idea because it’s pro-approved. “I’m totally obsessed with the French craftsmanship of gold tips. Get the look by using gold chrome powder, gold foil or gold glitter nail tips. “Not too much, just enough. I think it’s one wedding nail idea that will never go away because it’s amazing.”

If you’re looking for glam wedding nail ideas, consider adding some sparkle to your ombre nails. “For a more fun and chic wedding look, I love light with rose gold or silver glitter ombre details,” says Suga. Start with pastel pink nails and then add bling rhinestones or gold glitter (starting at the tips or bottom of the nails).

Beautiful Wedding Nails You’ll Love

Yes, you can still rock nail art on your wedding day. The key is to keep the colors neutral to make sure it doesn’t overpower the rest of your wedding day. “You can have a nude base [like soft pink], and then you can do line work with white, deep pink, gold or silver,” says Woolridge. “Minimal nails are great, because you can still be funny with the design without feeling overdone.”

Want to do something a little different? This wedding nail design is for you. “White marble is modern, trendy and unique, but also elegant for a cool wedding day ensemble,” says Suga. “I usually don’t recommend nails to my clients other than their normal nails because I don’t want them to regret going too wild on their wedding day.” That’s why this beautiful wedding nail art is so perfect – it’s the perfect mix of bold and elegant.

Another of Woolridge’s favorite wedding nail ideas? Lace nail art. “It’s stylish and doesn’t clash with anything,” he says. You can paint the design on all your nails or simply place it on two accent nails. Whatever you decide, Woolridge recommends painting these wedding nails by hand. If you choose to do your own manicure for the day, you need the right tools. “You need a thin nail art brush to create the look,” says Woolridge.

If you decide to work on a wedding manicure with a professional, bring reference photos to make it happen. “It’s a good idea to bring reference photos to the salon so the nail artist knows exactly what they’re looking for.”

Amazing Wedding Nail Designs Perfect For Brides

If a formal wedding manicure isn’t your style, consider ombre wedding creations instead. An added bonus? It’s easy to do at home: all you need is a makeup sponge and two different shades. “You just want to support each other so they don’t collide,” Woolrdige says. Consider how the two colors look on the color spectrum (pro tip: complementary colors are always a safe bet).

After choosing the colors, you need to decide on the manicure. Prepare the sponge by taping it to remove any burrs or dust (this will ensure you get a smooth hand transfer). and then. Paint one side of the sponge with one color and the top with another color. Rub the sponge gently on your skin
