We were surprised how many guests came in these amazing costumes. We were blown away!”

Instead of heels, Tania wore specially painted boots under her Kuraj dress and held a handmade metal rose instead of the usual bouquet. Mir wore a special steampunk hat and a Code Dress.

I guess that’s how things will continue to change during this pandemic (life?), but this is the one I’m most happy to have done. On Wednesday we decided to make the very painful and sad decision to officially withdraw our son from kindergarten. We were hoping that he might be back this month and that some of our pre-pandemic life would return, but we took some time to think carefully about what the nursery might look like next month (already facing We are 10+ days.closer) and my husband and I can’t help but watch the kids every few weeks and still try to work full time AND keep our sanity. Couple that with the growing body of research showing that children are far from immune and can be a major agent of the spread, and yes, I know it’s a good decision, but I just couldn’t do it.

I’m sad We’ve been with this daycare community (since Evie was 2.5!) and have come to love the providers, the owners, the community they’ve created around us . I really hope we can come back one day.
So we are now back in the office interviewing candidates to find someone who can manage 4 children (including 2 babies) in one go, including facilitating virtual daycare. It’s stressful to say the least and we look forward to the day we get to choose something and start our new schedule.
In other special news, I was happy to have Mom here this week, but unfortunately we lost a close family friend, my childhood priest (who is more like my uncle). Sharing pictures and memories of this great man was comforting and uplifting, but also sad to know that his funeral will not be what he wanted during the pandemic.
Sigh. So we continue to find ways to move forward and move forward. Today I will try to get up early and spend as much time today NOT on the internet/my/phone/social media as possible. Hopefully this will bring healing and relief.
