Wedding Bouquets With Brooches

Wedding Bouquets With Brooches – This was my brooch bouquet when I got married a few years ago. Last year my best friend also got married. She loves my bouquet so I made her a brooch bouquet as a wedding gift. Luckily, I documented the steps (for her, actually).

To create a very unique bouquet, collect a lot of old jewelry (you will need 50-60 pieces depending on the size of the bouquet) from both the bride and the groom. You can choose brooches, hangers or chains, but you can add anything that is small enough to fit in the bouquet. When I made my own, I added some Scrabble tiles with my husband’s letters and my name. Since the bride didn’t have a watch, I added an old one to my brooch bouquet.

I interacted with the bride’s sister and mother and the groom’s brother. They collected old family brooches.

Who Gets Personal Flowers At A Wedding?

Eventually you will have enough. Then you have to choose one that you actually use. The pieces should roughly match in color. They should not be too fine, as there will be trouble wrapping them with wire.

Just like real flowers, wrap the wire around each jewel to get a stem. With brooches, it’s easy. Use a brooch pin. Wrap the wire around the pin to prevent damage to the brooch. The wrap should be tight and not loose. Use pliers.

Use tape to cover the entire wire to get a nice finish on the rods. This will help prevent the wires from slipping when you trim later.

You can collect finished brooch flowers like real flowers in a vase or glass. As you complete the individual brooches, you will have an idea of what the final bouquet will look like.

Brooch Bouquet Tutorial (in Which I Create An Elaborate Analogy Between Marriage And Crafts)

I used rubber bands to secure the bouquet holder to my table to keep my hands free.

To give the bouquet a nice round shape and make it look full, use a piece of wire to tie a wide ribbon in loose loops around the bouquet holder. I put the ribbon in a bowl so the ribbon wouldn’t roll all over the floor.

Not much needs to be said about this step. Arrange individual brooch flowers on the bouquet holder. The bottom of the brooch should lightly touch the top of the ribbon loops.

Shorten the longest wire. Be careful not to remove brooches too often to rearrange them. The foam crumbles and the brooch no longer holds. Arrange the brooches equidistant from the ribbon loops. Do not crimp the ribbon loops or you will lose the stuffed look of the finished bouquet.

After the bouquet is made, the handle of the bouquet holder is still green plastic. It doesn’t look too nice or too comfortable in the palm of your hand. Wrap the ribbon around the handle to give the perfect finishing touch to the brooch bouquet. Fix the tape with hot glue.

You can add more ribbon petals for a smooth transition between the handle and top brooches. So, wrap the wire around a piece of ribbon to make a loop. Before adding the ribbon around the handle (!) add some loops to the bottom of the brooches by either punching them into the foam or gluing them on.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of this step before my friend’s wedding. So I have only one brooch bouquet of my own. I hope you understand what I am saying.

The final look of the brooch bouquet depends entirely on the brooches used, as you can see in my two different examples.

Need more bling to fill your deck? Search eBay for vintage brooches and trinkets, or visit local thrift and vintage boutiques for unique finds. Brooches and ornaments bought new at craft stores cost between $4 and $12 each, depending on size and style. However, multiples of vintage and antique jewelry on eBay starting at the same price can be a steal. When shopping at thrift stores and boutiques, don’t just look at the jewelry counter. Look for fancy buttons on a vintage sweater, clasps on old wallets, or shiny embellishments removed from shoes.

To create a bridal brooch bouquet, you have two main basic options: a pre-made bouquet holder, usually consisting of a floral foam ball in a cage attached to a handle; Or the following DIY version using Styrofoam, wooden dowels and spray paint.

You’ll need 30 to 60 baubles and brooches to cover your 4- to 6-inch base, depending on their size, the size of your floor, and how layered you want the look to be. For trinkets or brooches that you don’t want to reuse or return to a family member, add a drop of e6000 glue to the head of the pin and attach to the back of the jewelry. It is recommended that all gluing be done first, as the glue must be allowed to dry before attaching the tile to the base.
